Motorola One Zoom Quad Camera Smartphone Introduced at IFA 2019

Motorola, which is now a Lenovo subsidiary, presented the “One Zoom” at IFA 2019 in Berlin, whose quad camera, according to the manufacturer, is “Industry leading”. The new Motorola Smartphone stands out particularly by its favorable price of 429 euro. With the exception of the Samsung Galaxy A9 and the Honor 20, quad cameras are only available in the price segment of over 500 Euro.

The main camera has a 48 megapixel sensor with optical image stabilizer and a fast f/1.7 aperture. In addition, the Motorola One Zoom has the triple optical tele zoom with 8 megapixel resolution already known from the Motorola One Vision, which also has optical image stabilization. In addition, there is a 16 megapixel ultra-wide angle lens with 117 degrees field of view and a 5 megapixel camera for depth information, which allows photos with a bokeh effect.  The cameras are arranged in a rectangular module in the centre of the rear, which protrudes slightly from the housing. In addition to the four cameras on the rear, the Motorola One Zoom also has a 25 megapixel front camera.

Medium class components

Since the cameras obviously account for a large part of the budget, the other equipment of the Motorola One Zoom comes from the middle class. The 6.4-inch OLED display offers Full HD+ (2,340 x 1,080 pixels) and has an in-display fingerprint sensor. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 may not be top of the range, but together with the 4 GB RAM it should offer more than enough performance for almost all application scenarios. In its basic configuration, the smartphone offers 128 GB of internal memory, which can be expanded via a microSD card if required. The 4,000 mAh battery is charged via USB-C with a maximum of 15 watts. The device does not support wireless charging.

Unfortunately, the Motorola One Zoom, which is now available, does not have IP standard certified protection against dust and water. Motorola has also decided not to use Gorilla Glass to protect the display. Instead, the smartphone has a so-called P2i nanocoating to protect it from light rain and Panda Glass to protect the display from scratches.

The colours Electric Gray, Brushed Bronze and Cosmic Purple are offered and the second model is sold exclusively via Amazon.
