Mountain Makalu Max: Gaming mouse with customizable side grips unveiled

Manufacturer Mountain made a name for itself with its customizable Everest keyboard (our review). With the Makalu 67, they also had an excellent gaming mouse in their portfolio. Now there is a new model, the Mountain Makalu Max, which comes with, among other things, customizable side grips.

The Mountain Makalu Max in detail

The pure specifications of the Mountain Makalu Max wireless gaming mouse are already impressive. Under the hood works the high-end sensor PixArt PAW3370, which realizes a resolution of 19,000 DPI. And that with 400 IPS and a tracking speed of 50g.

The mouse offers a polling rate of 1,000 Hz and a lift-off distance of 1-2 mm. The rodent offers a whole 8 buttons, which brings it to a size of 127 mm x 70.2 mm x 42.2 mm. The Makalu Max is made of ABS plastic and weighs around 110 grams. 5 profiles can be stored on the onboard memory, while the two main buttons are supposed to be particularly durable thanks to Kailh GM 8.0 switches.

The mouse operates wirelessly in the 2.4 GHz band and is charged via USB-C, but can also be used with a cable. A battery life of up to 80 hours is promised, while the user can continue to play without problems while charging.

Modular Design

One special feature of the Mountain Makalu Max, however, is its customizable design. Basically, the gaming mouse relies on an ergonomic design, but comes with customizable side grips that can be easily attached magnetically.

Thus, wide grips can be attached to both sides, which can serve as a rest for the thumbs and other fingers. You can choose between one or both sides. Metal rings can also be attached to the underside:

The so-called Gravity Control System thus not only increases the weight of the Makalu Max, but also changes the center of gravity. The discs are available with a weight of 10.6 grams, 8.4 grams and 6.6 grams so that all wishes should be covered.

All eight buttons can be customized via the manufacturer’s Bas Camp software. Of course, there is also RGB lighting including 16.8 million colors.
