AOC has unveiled a new monitor, the U28G2XU, and as is often the case, it’s aimed particularly at gamers.
Uncompromising monitor
AOC has not compromised with the U28G2XU, so the monitor comes with a very high resolution as well as refresh rate. Diagonally, the monitor measures 28 inches and offers a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels. The refresh rate reaches a maximum of 144 Hz and the response time (gray-to-grey) is one millisecond according to AOC. The IPS panel achieves up to 98.8 percent in DCI-P3 color space coverage and offers a maximum brightness of up to 370 cd/m². Apart from that, the gaming monitor is also Display HDR certified. In addition, there is support for AMD FreeSync Premium and Nvidia G-Sync.
Various modes for gameplay
In order to really have fun gaming, the opponent should also have enough power reserves to display a high resolution and refresh rate simultaneously. Connecting a console, such as the PS5, is also feasible. The image signals are transmitted to the monitor via two HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.4 ports. The two HDMI ports support a maximum transmission of 4K content with a maximum of 60 Hz. Thanks to the Picture-by-Picture mode, two image sources can also be displayed on the monitor simultaneously.
There are also special display modes for gameplay, so there is the option of fading in a crosshair overlay here. The AOC U28G2XU also has four USB 3.2 ports. Two 3-watt speakers provide good sound, and there is also a headphone output so that it can be heard without being distracted. For a better alignment of the monitor, it can be adjusted in tilt as well as swiveled by 64°. Additionally, mounting to a VESA stand or mount is also possible.
Availability and Prices
AOC’s new U28G2XU gaming monitor is expected to be available from August this year at a price of €739.
