Nikon cameras can now also be used as webcams

There are bottlenecks not only for masks and toilet paper, but also for webcams. The new Nikon Webcam Utility Software can help here. After some other manufacturers Nikon is now also with a software solution.

Nikon offers solution for webcam bottleneck

Due to Corona most webcams are sold out at the moment. So what to do if you have to work from home? Nikon has come up with something here and released a software that allows you to use a camera as a fully functional webcam. Great thing about it is the image quality alone. A SLR gives you a lot more than a standard webcam. Especially in times when laptops and computers are not equipped with a webcam anymore, such a software can be very helpful. With this software Nikon makes it possible to use selected, mirrorless system cameras and digital SLR cameras as webcams.

The tool can be used on Windows and also on macOS. The use is quite simple, after installing the software, the camera is connected via USB cable. Once the system has made all the necessary settings, the camera can be used as a webcam. The tool from Nikon is compatible with the cameras Z 7II, Z 7, Z 6II, Z 6, Z 5, Z 50, D6, D5, D850, D810, D780, D750, D500, D7500, D7200, D5600, D5500, D5300 and D3500. The future models from Nikon should be able to be used with the software.

Availability

The software is available immediately and free of charge.
