OnePlus 10 Pro comes with second generation Hassleblad camera

OnePlus has unveiled its latest smartphone, the OnePlus 10 Pro 5G. And the highlights already sound promising. The manufacturer wants to improve the camera unit of the Android smartphone once again. The performance of the processor and display are also said to be better now.

Next-generation Hasselblad camera

It’s quite amazing that OnePlus now puts a lot of emphasis on good camera performance. Although the cameras of the Chinese company’s earlier models were sufficient for a snapshot in between, more was not possible. This changed with last year’s OnePlus 9 Pro and its Hasselblad camera. The second generation of the same camera is now used in the OnePlus 10 Pro. Thanks to its Billion Color Solution, the pictures are supposed to have even more natural colors than in the predecessor.

Also new is the ultra-wide-angle camera, whose field of view has now been raised to 150 degrees. Hassleblad not only provides the appropriate camera technology, but also supplies users with a special Pro mode. The OnePlus 10 Pro is supposed to allow taking 12-bit RAW pictures. There have also been changes in motion pictures. You should now be able to adjust parameters such as white balance or ISO during the recording.

Latest Qualcomm processor

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 from Qualcomm is under the hood of the OnePlus 10 pro. In combination with the modern 3D Passive cooling system, the smartphone should be able to offer a great performance. The 5,000 mAh battery can be recharged very quickly once it is empty. The new charging technology called SUPERVOOC with 80 watts of power is used. OnePlus promises that the 10 Pro can be charged from 0 to 100 percent within 32 minutes. Wireless charging via so-called AIRVOOC should also only take 47 minutes to fully charge the smartphone. In view of an impressive power of 50 watts, that is hardly surprising.

QHD+ display with 120 Hz

The OnePlus 10 Pro features a 6.7-inch display that resolves in QHD+ and offers up to 120 Hz refresh rates. Thanks to the LTPO technology, the device can adjust the hertz number to the current demand of the smartphone. Anything between 1 and 120 hz is possible here. This is supposed to save the battery in particular. Similar to G-Sync or other VRR features that make gaming on consoles or PCs smoother, OnePlus wants to achieve this in the 10 Pro with its HyperBoost Gaming Engine. This is supposed to stabilize the frame rate so that no nasty stutters hinder the high-score hunt.

Oxygen OS 12 based on Android 12

OnePlus relies on the in-house operating system Oxygen OS 12.1 for its 10 Pro. This is based on Android 12 and looks like it has been kept pleasingly slim again. It is very reminiscent of stock Android without a lot of bells and whistles. The manufacturer guarantees longevity by guaranteeing the next three major Android updates and assuring four years of security updates.

Price and Availability

The design of the OnePlus 10 Pro is in part quite different from its predecessor. On the one hand, there is the completely redesigned camera module, which now looks much bulkier. However, it also looks much higher-quality in view of the ceramic coating. OnePlus also guarantees reliable protection against scratches due to the material. The new flagship is scheduled to go on sale on April 5, 2022 in the colors Volcanic Black and Emerald Forest.

The choice is between a version with 8 GB RAM and 128 Gb storage space and a version with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage space. On paper, OnePlus’ plans for its new flagship sound very promising.
