Perlisten S4b and S4s: Noble bookshelf and surround speakers and subwoofers presented

The young manufacturer Perlisten has already scored points with the international trade press with its impressive S7t floorstanding speakers and S5m monitors. Now they expand their portfolio with the shelf and studio speakers Perlisten S4b and S4s, which are located in the high-end segment.

Perlisten S4b and S4s in detail

The new Die shelf and surround speakers S4b and S4s draw on the same technology with TeXtreme woofers and DPC midrange-tweeter arrays as the previous models and are designed to deliver uncompromising audiophile performance. They are joined by a full four powerful active subwoofers.

Both the surround speakers and the subwoofers are THX Dominus certified without exception. This marks the new pinnacle of THX surround sound in the home. THX Dominus certified speakers must be able to provide sound to room sizes up to 184 square meters with levels of 120 decibels. Perlisten is the first manufacturer in the world whose product range has been awarded the coveted THX Dominus label.

The company name is an abbreviation for “Perceptual Listening” and wall make the listening experience perceptible. This is made possible, for example, by the unique TeXtremeCarbon Fiber woofers with their membrane made of a textile-carbon fiber alloy, as well as carefully developed overall designs that impress in terms of detail, dynamics and overall performance.

At its heart, however, is the innovative “Directivity Pattern Control” mid/high unit, which aims to radiate evenly horizontally while minimizing reflections from floors and ceilings through the clever placement of two midrange domes within the tweeter driver’s waveguide.

Perlisten S4b: Small and powerful

On a size of only 420 x 240 x 300 millimeters, the shelf speakers Perlisten S4b want to achieve great things, which is to be in no way inferior to the large S7 Tower. In this regard, one goes sonically again significantly further than the only recently unveiled KEF LSX II.

The three-way speaker relies on a “Directivity Pattern Control” midrange-tweeter unit that is said to offer impressive dynamic range. The TeXtreme Carbon Fiber Woofer is synonymous with outstanding low-frequency precision, making it easy to use on its own as a bookshelf speaker. In combination with a subwoofer, it becomes a compact and powerful 2.1 system.

Perlists S4s

The S4b is also joined by the Perlisten S4s, which is specifically designed as a surround speaker. It features the same drivers, but arranges the woofer above the DPC array.

Together with the downward sloping baffle and shallower depth, this makes the S4s ideal as a height speaker or for surround applications with limited space.

Subwoofers D12s and D15s: Rich sound, compact dimensions

Perlisten provides the speakers with a total of four subwoofers. The compact D12s and D15s subwoofers make the start. With a carbon fiber composite diaphragm, multi-layer Nomex center spiders, massive magnets and voice coils made of lightweight aluminum, the 12- and 15-inch drivers, which were developed from scratch, aim to deliver convincing sound.

Thanks to powerful amplifiers with 1500 (D12s) and 2000 (D15s) watts and ultra-fast control via 32-bit ARM M4 Cortex processors, the D12s and D15s models bring a rich bass performance, which have also received THX Dominus certification.

The D12s achieves this when used in pairs, while the D15s is the world’s smallest subwoofer to meet the strict criteria when used alone. The sound can also be conveniently adjusted via smartphone.

Using the convenient Perlisten Subwoofer app for Android or iOS mobile devices, you can precisely adjust the level, phase, crossover frequencies and equalizer settings of all the subwoofers you use.

Subwoofers D212s and D215s: Can it be a bit more?

The two small subwoofers are joined by the more powerful Perlisten D212s and D215s subs. The drivers were precisely optimized for their behavior within the speaker enclosure using nonlinear modeling techniques.

Klippel laser measurements also enabled meticulous fine-tuning of all DSP parameters of the 32-bit ARM M4 Cortex processors to produce a precise, dynamic and audiophile sound even with the most massive bass.

This is ensured by an amplifier power of 3000 watts in both models. In addition, like their smaller brothers D12s and D15s, D212s and D215s can also be controlled via the built-in 2.5-inch touchscreen display or the convenient Perlisten Subwoofer App.
