Following the trend of ultra-wide monitors, Philips introduced the 49-inch monitor 499P9H in 32:9 format. The almost 1.2 meter wide monitor can thus display the contents of two WQHD monitors (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) with just one device, thus replacing two 27-inch monitors. The Philips monitor with a recommended retail price of 1,099 euros is relatively inexpensive compared to similarly sized competitor products. The Dell UltraSharp U4919DW of the same size costs 1,699 dollars. The first dealers already list the monitor as available.
In addition to its enormous size, the Philips 499P9H also scores with the good VA panel, whose maximum brightness is 450 cd/m² and whose maximum contrast ratio is 3000:1. DisplayHDR400 according to VESA standard is also supported. Thanks to the LED backlight with extended colour spectrum, the sRGB colour space is covered by 121 percent, the NTSC colour space by 103 percent and the Adobe RGB colour space by 91 percent.
Integrated KVM switch for multi-computer operation
Its claim as a monitor for professional users is made possible not only by the enormous variety of connections but also by the integrated KVM switch, which can be used to switch between different connected computers when the mouse and keyboard are connected to the monitor. In addition, notebooks can be discharged directly via USB Power Delivery with 65 watts. The three USB type A ports, the jack port and the LAN port make the Philips 499P9H a fully-fledged docking station. The picture signal can be transmitted via USB type C (Gen 3.1). Data and power from the monitor are also transmitted via the same port.
As an additional feature, Philips has installed a pop-up webcam with Full HD resolution that can be used to log in with Windows Hello.
