Porsche and Storck cooperate for new e-bike brand

In the future, the carmaker’s technology offshoot Porsche Digital will be working with Storck to offer classy e-bikes under a new pedelec brand. Under the name Cyklær, they presented a first, innovative and sporty e-bike.

Luxury e-bike Cyklær presented

Cyklær is not only the new brand, but also the name of the new luxury e-bike itself. Here, Porsche Digital has teamed up with bicycle manufacturer Storck and component makers Greyp and Fazua to bring an innovative pedelec to market.

At first glance, the new e-bike is reminiscent of classic gravel bikes and comes in various paint finishes. However, the installed technology in particular seems to be quite exciting. The Cyklær bike has a particularly light and robust carbon frame. Brakes and gears come from the U.S. manufacturer SRAM. Fazua contributes the electric drive. The real innovation, however, is found in the unusual digital platform.

Another unique feature is the ability to remove not only the battery, but also the motor unit. In terms of tires, the bike relies on the Schwalbe G-One, which is supposed to guarantee low rolling resistance, good grip properties on dry and wet surfaces, and long durability.

The installed Fazua drive relies on a mid-motor with higher torque and has no mechanical resistance when riding above 25 km/h. The gearshift relies on a low-maintenance SRAM Force AXS electronic shifting system, while hydraulic 160mm brake discs guarantee maximum safety.

App control of the e-bike

When using the Cyklær app, your own smartphone becomes the digital control center of the e-bike. Thus, the smartphone can be used in combination with the built-in cam as a digital rear view camera – the digital rear view mirror is intended primarily to increase safety in traffic. Other functions include navigation, video recording and location services. Komoot integration as well as Apple Health and Apple Music are also offered.

The smartphone is mounted directly below the handlebars on the Cyklær, and the mount also serves as an inductive charging pad according to the Qi standard, supplying the smartphone with power on the go. Below the attachment is an LED indicator, which should presumably show the battery level of the e-bike.

Prices and availability

The Cyklær e-gravel bike will be offered in three different configurations and colors (energetic orange, pine green and slate gray). Four different frame sizes from S to XL are available. It starts at an MSRP of 6,999.00 euros.

Alternatively, the bike is available with a streetwear kit consisting of lights, luggage rack and mudguards for an MSRP of 7,299.00 euros – optionally with Gravel or Urban tires. Delivery of all models is scheduled to begin in January 2022.
