QNAP TS-253E and TS-453E: New 2-bay and 4-bay desktop NAS with Intel Celeron J6412

With the QNAP TS-253E and TS.453E, the manufacturer has introduced two new desktop NAS solutions that are primarily designed for long-term projects or companies that need several identical NAS models in each branch or office. As more compact solutions, they complement, for example, the QNAP TS-h1290FX in tower design.

QNAP TS-253E and TS-453E in detail

The QNAP TS-253E is a 2-bay NAS, while the Q-NAP TS-453E is a 4-bay solution. The TS-x53E series features an Intel Celeron J6412 quad-core processor (burst up to 2.6 GHz), which is available for an extended period (until 2029) and supported by QNAP.

The TS-x53E series is ideal for managed service providers, system integrators and other IT companies that need suitable NAS models for long-term projects. In doing so, the manufacturer is following the request of many enterprises looking for a NAS with long-term support and availability:

“The TS-x53E series is offered and supported by QNAP for a longer period of time, making it the perfect solution for these enterprises as well as other users,” reveals Andy Chuang, product manager of QNAP.

Strong features in both NAS solutions

The majority of the technical features are shared between the QNAP TS-253E and TS453E. Offered, for example, are 8GB of RAM, dual 2.5GbE connectivity, and two M.2 2280 PCIe slots to support file servers, backup servers, and other important applications.

A dual HDMi output also allows the use of high-quality surveillance equipment, as well as direct playback of multimedia content. By setting port trunking with two 2.5GbE ports, enterprises can take advantage of up to 5Gbps bandwidth for better performance and services for multiple users.

NVMe SSDs can be easily installed in the M.2 PCIe slots, while performance can be improved via SSD caching. QNAP’s auto-tiering technology (Qtier) also enables continuous optimization of storage efficiency. In the case of the TS-253E-8G, you have just two drive bays at your disposal, while the QNAP TS-453E-8G has four.

Current QTS operating system on board

Both NAS models are equipped with the latest version of the QTS operating system, which provides comprehensive NAS business applications while ensuring the highest level of NAS data security.

Snapshots can be used to protect the NAS from ransomware, while myQNAPcloud can be used to securely connect over the Internet. The Hybrid Backup Sync can easily backup NAS files to the cloud or to a remote/local NAS to meet the 3-2-1 backup strategy. QVR Elite allows users to build a surveillance system with lower TCO and higher scalability.
