Samsung Galaxy S22+ and S22 Ultra leak: brightness of 1,500 nits

The two new flagship smartphones Samsung Galaxy S22+ and S22 Ultra are already in the starting blocks, and a new leak is making the rounds. According to SamMobile, the leak is based on Samsung’s internal display tests of the smartphones and promises an impressive peak brightness of 1,500 nits.

Samsung Galaxy S22+ and S22 Ultra with extremely bright displays

As the leaked screenshot of the Samsung Galaxy S22+ and S22 Ultra smartphones reveals, the Koreans are relying on brand-new displays for their 2022 flagships, which could set new standards especially in terms of brightness.

There is talk of a peak brightness of up to 1,750 nits, which is only achieved when HDR content is displayed with activated auto brightness. According to SamMobile, 1,500 nits are still achieved in manual mode, which is also an impressive value.

Thus, the Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra would easily beat even the iPhone 13 Pro, which manages a brightness of 1,200 nits (HDR content) and 1,000 nits typical brightness, respectively. Even the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra “only” reached a maximum of 1,500 nits when displaying HDR content.

Furthermore, the leak reveals that the installed AMOLED displays in the Samsung Galaxy S22+ and S22 Ultra cover the DCI-P3 color space to a full 100 percent – but that is only slightly surprising.

More interesting is the display size, which is now almost confirmed. Apparently, the Galaxy S22+ uses a 6.55-inch panel, while the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra relies on a 6.81-inch display.

The new Samsung Galaxy S22 series is expected to be officially unveiled in February 2022. It will presumably include the 6.1-inch S22 and the two models S22+ as well as S22 Ultra. The latter is supposed to feature a 108-megapixel main camera and even come with a 45-watt power supply.

But until that happens, sales of the new Samsung Galaxy S21 FE will first start on January 11. The Fan Edition relies on a new SoC and offers some additional improvements.
