Samsung Galaxy Book2 Go: ARM notebook with a strong runtime

Samsung wants to prove that a good notebook can be available for a small price with its Samsung Galaxy Book2 Go. The technical specs of the value-for-money machine already read very promising. Especially the 21 hours of battery life that the ARM notebook is supposed to offer should convince many.

Galaxy Book 2 Go is a low-priced ARM notebook

The Galaxy Book Go was already clearly aimed at users for whom a notebook’s hardware power is rather secondary. These days, you do not need a state-of-the-art processor, let alone the latest graphics card, to simply run a few office applications. This market seems to be so lucrative for Samsung that the South Koreans have now announced the successor with the Samsung Galaxy Book2 Go. A Snapdragon 7c+ from Qualcomm is under the hood of the inexpensive notebook.

The ARM chip’s performance is supposed to be well-equipped for classic office applications, and according to Samsung, it can also run Windows 11 in its ARM version without problems. However, the notebook should not be overloaded with performance-hungry applications. However, the system’s low performance also has its advantages. Weak chip technology requires considerably less energy than stronger counterparts. This should also pay off in Samsung’s Galaxy Book2 Go. The South Koreans even talk about a battery life of up to 21 hours. If the claim is also realized in practice, the notebook should be a real no-brainer for pupils and students.

Highlights from CES 2023:

Panel technology has been changed

A closer look reveals that the Samsung Galaxy Book2 Go has now been equipped with a different panel. While the predecessor relied on TN technology for its 14-inch display, which is now clearly outdated, the new model uses a contemporary IPS panel. It is supposed to have a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (Full HD). The fact that it is a contemporary notebook is also clear from the Wi-Fi 6E support – that is anything but a matter of course in this price range. The lack of high-end hardware is also reflected in the weight of the slim notebook. At just 1.44 kg, it is extremely light and should not be noticed negatively in a backpack.

Price and availability

It is not yet known at which price the ARM notebook from Samsung will be launched. It looks different with the release. The Samsung Galaxy Book2 Go is supposed to be launched in France on January 20, 2023, as the company announces on its own website . If it has a successful market launch there, it should not be long before it is also available in Germany.
