Samsung launches ten new monitors at once

You still need suitable equipment for the home office?! You’re not the only one. After all, the number of employees working from home has been steadily increasing since the start of the Corona crisis. Even in the aftermath of the pandemic, many employers are likely to embrace this concept. Electronics companies are aware of this, of course – including Samsung. The South Korean company is launching a total of ten monitors with its S6, S6U, S8 and S8U series, which can not only be used optimally in the office, but also in the home office. We take a closer look at the new displays.

The right monitors for a “flexible working world”

Samsung itself describes its new monitors as a customized solution for the “flexible working world”. With plenty of flexibility being demanded of employers and employees, especially at present, this makes perfect sense. The ten new monitors are supposed to have something for everyone. They not only come in different sizes, but also with different features. However, according to the manufacturer, they all have a solid basic configuration. Besides a high resolution, Samsung promises a height-adjustable stand for each model. This should effectively prevent neck pain. Some displays also shine with practical features. For example, the S6U series offers a Lan port as well as the possibility to be used as a docking station.

Curved design for a lot of overview

We know curved displays mainly from the gaming sector. But the curved design can also offer some advantages in the office or home office. After all, they offer a lot of overview in combination with a large screen diagonal. Thus, many open applications can always be kept in view. This is not by chance. The curved design was developed for monitors to accommodate a person’s natural field of vision. One model that is supposed to rely on said curved design is the S6U with a screen diagonal of 34 inches. Due to the sheer size, this model is supposed to be tailor-made for true multitaskers who have to keep several programs in view at the same time. The curvature radius of the monitor corresponds to 1,000R. Thanks to a resolution of 3,440 x 1,440 pixels (Ultra WQHD resolution), you should be able to benefit from a razor-sharp picture. The HDR standard HDR10 is supposed to provide great contrasts. In combination with the maximum brightness of 330 cd/m², a contrast ratio of 4000:1 is supposed to be achieved. Samsung also installs a panel with an Eye Saver Mode so that long workdays can be completed without headaches or eye pain. This reduces harmful blue light from the displayed image. Together with the integrated Flicker Free technology, even many working hours at a stretch should not be a problem.

Perfect for work and leisure

At the latest when you look at the connections, you realize that these are user-friendly monitors that are primarily intended to be used in everyday office life. For example, external devices such as PCs and laptops can be easily connected via the practical DisplayPort. Alternatively, the monitors have connection options like HDMI, USB-A ports, as well as USB-C ports. Thanks to the LAN port, the S6U also becomes a practical docking station. Those who want to enrich their home office with one of the monitors will probably not only benefit from it when working. According to Samsung, the S6U is also perfect for gaming. In addition to a refresh rate of 100 Hz, a special Game Mode, which is supposed to reduce the input lag, as well as a response time of 5 ms are also convincing in this regard.

Except for the large S6U in 34 inches, all new additions can be adjusted into the practical Pivot Mode.

Head of B2B & B2C Sales, Professional Display Solutions & Consumer Displays at Samsung Electronics GmbH, Michael Vorberger describes the benefits of the new displays as follows.

“The past few months have made our working world enormously more flexible, so that working at home will probably no longer be an exception in the future. The consequence is that many of our customers are asking for devices that they can use both in their daily work routine in the home office and for fun and relaxation after work. We want to serve this trend towards hybrid use with a wide range of multifunctional monitors such as the S6U in 34 inches.”

The right solution for everyone

The sheer volume of available new monitors from Samsung alone should ensure that pretty much every requirement is covered. This is already evident in the S6U series. Besides the curved TOP version with a screen diagonal of 34 inches, you should also be able to buy the monitor in smaller models. You can choose between 24, 27 and 32 inches. The three smaller monitors are supposed to have a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels (QHD). In terms of connectivity, they are in no way inferior to their larger counterparts. Besides DisplayPort, you will also find HDMI, USB-C and LAN. If that is too much for you, you should take a look at the S6 series. Here you have the choice between 24, 27 or 32 inches. Thanks to FreeSync, smooth motion pictures are supposed to be ensured. You can also save power with Eco Saving Plus. The brightness is automatically reduced in black areas.

The S6U in 34 inches is the largest monitor among the ten new additions and is the only one to offer a practical curved design..

In addition to S6- and S6U- come the S8- as well as S8U-series. While you should be able to buy the S8 models in either 27 or 32 inches, Samsung is only launching the S8U10 in 27 inches. With a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels (UHD), these models have a higher resolution than the S6 and S6U series. With the S8U series, you also get the USB-C interface with 90 watts of power, which is also available in the models of the S6U series. Samsung relies on a slim stand that is made of metal for each of the new monitors. In combination with the almost bezel-less design, the new models look really chic. Comfort features like adjustable tilt, rotation and height are also on board. Many will also be happy about the practical pivot function. This change from landscape to portrait mode is offered by all new monitors except the large S6U in 34 inches.

Prices and availability

Two of the new monitors can already be had in stores. Thus, the S6 as well as the S6U in 32 inches are already available now. In April, the smaller monitors of the S6U series as well as the curved TOP model in 34 inches are to go on sale. The remaining monitors of the S8 and S8U series will follow in mid-May.
