Samsung stops sale of monitor Odyssey G9

Odyssey G9 was temporarily withdrawn from sale by the manufacturer Samsung. The reason for this is quality problems: There are reports of unwanted light leaking from the top of the curved monitor.

Samsung has responded quickly to the reports and has reportedly contacted all dealers to remove unsold monitors from sale. The devices are now to be subjected to a further review. The manufacturer itself has not provided any information on the nature of the quality problems. However, reports, including those on Reddit, indicate that light is leaking from the top frame of the case. The reason for this is said to be a defective aperture. In addition, photos have appeared on the Internet that also indicate such a problem.

Odyssey G9 wants to score points above all with its picture format of 32:9 when the screen is strongly curved. In addition, the 49-inch diagonal screen is equipped with Quantum Dot technology, which is supposed to ensure particularly high brightness values. It is not yet known when the device will be back on sale. Pre-orders are apparently still possible in this country, however. In the meantime there is an official statement from Samsung:

To ensure the optimal performance of the Samsung Odyssey G9 monitors, Samsung has adapted the production process. All devices not yet delivered have been subject to a renewed quality check since July 15th, which may result in delayed availability.
