Samsung’s gaming monitor lineup gets an addition – Odyssey G5 and G3 are coming

Samsung released the Odyssey G9 and G7 at the beginning of this year, and now the G3 and G5 follow. Thus, the gaming monitor series gets two more modern models.

Monitors for gamers – Samsung Odyssey G5 and G3

The new Samsung Odyssey G5 is a 27-inch monitor with a curved design and is already on the market. There will then be two more versions of the Odyssey G5. Once as a 32-inch and once as a 34-inch version. Both versions will be launched in the spring. The Odyssey G5 has a WQHD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. It uses AMD’s FreeSync technology and brings rich colors into the gaming or living room thanks to HDR10. With 1000R, the G5’s radius of curvature is modeled after the human eye. This is supposed to support an immersive gaming experience. The refresh rate is 144 Hz and the response time is 1 ms (MPRT). Thus, nothing stands in the way of exciting battles. The 34-inch variant of the G5 even brings it to 165 Hz refresh rate instead of 144 Hz.

Odyssey G3 a bit smaller, but technically on top!

The Samsung Odyssey G3 cannot be shaken off so easily from the Odyssey G5 in terms of technology. It offers a Full HD panel without curvature with 24 or 27 inches. It also has LED backlighting and a height-adjustable stand. The refresh rate on the G3 is also 144 Hz, plus AMD’s FreeSync technology and a 1 ms response time. As for the monitors’ connections, they have an HDMI port, a DisplayPort, and a 3.5mm jack connector.

Availability and Prices

The Odyssey G5 in 27-inch format is already available at a price of nearly 300 euros (MSRP €349). The Odyssey G5 32-inch is expected to cost around 350 euros, with an MSRP of 405 euros. The model is available for pre-order and is expected to ship in April 2021. Prices and availability for the Odyssey G5 in 34 inches and the Odyssey G3 are unfortunately not yet available.
