The leak at the beginning of the month already held out the prospect of the announcement, which has finally happened. The premium in-ear headphones Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 have been officially unveiled. In the process, the company equips the new model with improved ANC and aptX Adaptive.
Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3 in detail
With the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 3, the manufacturer wants to set new standards. And that both in terms of sound quality, adaptive noise cancellation (ANC) and wearing comfort. Compared to its popular predecessor, the design has also been modernized.
“The MOMENTUM True Wireless 3 builds on a strong heritage: With Sennheiser Signature Sound and TrueResponse technology, as well as new Adaptive Noise Cancellation functionality and an even better fit, these earphones set new standards in our MOMENTUM range,” the company writes.
Excellent sound is said to be provided by the 7-mm dynamic drivers, which feature Sennheiser True Response transducers. They cover a frequency band from 5 Hz to 21,000 Hz. The same could already convince, for example, in the case of the CX Plus (our test). An individual sound profile can also be created in the Smart Control app with the help of a sound test. Furthermore, the app offers a selection of presets and various equalizer settings.
In addition to AAC and SBC, aptX Adaptive is also used for the audio codecs, which adaptively adjusts the sound quality and reduces latency.
New adaptive noise cancellation
In addition, the Momentum True Wireless 3 rely on a new adaptive noise cancellation (ANC) that is said to surpass that of the previous model. It automatically adapts to the environment.
At the same time, microphone quality has also been improved. A full six external microphones (three per earbud) are now used. The new in-ears are operated via touch control, which can also be individualized with the help of the app.
Wearing comfort and battery life of the Momentum 3
The wearing comfort was something like the Achilles heel of the predecessor. Sennheiser has now made improvements here and given the Momentum True Wireless 3 a new design that also approximates the CX Plus. The earphone also comes with several silicone tips in different sizes to fit all ear shapes and sizes.
There is also an IPX4 certification for protection against splashing water. The battery life is said to be a good 7 hours, which can be extended again to 28 hours in combination with the charging case. Charging is via USB-C or wirelessly.
