Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4: Premium in-ears go on sale

Sennheiser unveiled the fourth edition of its flagship in-ear headphones at CES 2024 at the beginning of the year. Now the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 are finally going on sale.

It has been almost two years since Senheiser introduced its current premium TWS top model, the Momentum True Wireless 3. This was followed in the fall by the Momentum Wireless 4, an over-ear headphone that dispensed with the iconic design of its predecessors, but was able to fully convince in terms of sound in our test.

Now there is another in-ear innovation from the manufacturer, as the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 presented in January is finally going on sale.

According to the manufacturer, there are once again a whole range of interesting new features, and the fourth edition has once again improved significantly in terms of sound. A total of six microphones are installed, which not only improve the voice quality during phone calls, but also make the adaptive noise suppression even more effective.

At the same time, an adaptive equalizer adjusts the sound of the audio stream in real time, which should ensure a more consistent sound in music, films, podcasts or games. At the same time, the treble should no longer sound so shrill, while bass reproduction has been improved.

The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 are based on the Qualcomm S5 Sound Gen 2 platform and rely on Snapdragon Sound, which promises lossless sound quality in the aptX codec with low latency in the modern Bluetooth 5.4 standard.

Auracast Bluetooth broadcasting technology is also part of the package. This allows audio content to be distributed to multiple receivers, for example:

“Imagine visiting a museum exhibition on vacation and listening to the guide through your own headphones. Imaginelistening to a sports broadcast in a noisy airport bar and finally enjoying a movie in your seat on an airplane – all with just one pair of earphones,” reveals Frank Foppe, Global Producat Manager at Sennheiser.

Longer battery life

The Momentum True Wireless 4 are also said to have a noticeable increase in battery life. Up to 7.5 hours of playback should be possible, and in combination with the charging case, the runtime increases to a whopping 30 hours.

The case can also be charged not only via USB-C but also wirelessly using the Qi standard. Thanks to the quick-charging function, 8 minutes in the charging case is enough to get the True Wireless in-ear headphones ready for an hour of playback. A battery protection mode is designed to optimize the charging cycles in order to improve the battery life in the long term.

A revised design of the earplugs and the sound opening on the receiver also promises even greater comfort and should offer better protection against earwax.

Price and availability

The release of the Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 4 was originally planned for mid-February, but was delayed once again. The premium TWS in-ears have been officially available in stores since March 1, 2024.
