Sharkoon Rebel C50: Modular ATX case introduced

Sharkoon has introduced the Rebel C50, a modular ATX case with perforations all around. It is available in two versions: with and without RGB lighting. The focus is on functionality, at least in the non-RGB variant.

Functionality first

With the Rebel C50, Sharkoon sets an example for the function orientation of technical devices – and against primarily aesthetically oriented designs. This doesn’t mean that the new case doesn’t look anything; however, when in doubt, Sharkoon has recognizably opted for the technically smarter solutions. It is thus a kind of counter-design to the RGB Hex, which is strongly focused on optics. The clearest evidence of this orientation is the decision for a circumferential perforation, which makes the case look like the exit or entrance of a ventilation shaft, but optimizes exactly this ventilation. This, in turn, should ensure longevity and performance of the system housed in the Rebel C50.

The Rebel C50 features perforations throughout

This only applies to a limited extent to the RGB version of the ATX case. Here, Sharkoon forgoes the continuous perforation in favor of a glass side panel. This allows a view into the interior and lets the RGB lighting of the four pre-installed fans (there are only two in the non-RGB version) come to the fore; however, it does affect the ventilation.

Modular design

Another key feature of the new case is its modular design. This makes it possible to build the system entirely according to one’s own needs and to redesign it if necessary. For example, the case has a power distribution tunnel that can be removed if necessary to create more space for fans or other components. It also features mounting brackets on the top and behind the motherboard tray that allow you to install up to four fans or a 360mm radiator. There is also room for another 360 mm radiator – as well as up to three SSDs. The maximum number of fans (120 mm) is eleven. The modularity thus allows very individual design decisions and the installation of very different system components.

The fact that the Rebel C50 is equipped with a graphics card holder with a rubberized support surface is also worth mentioning. This should ensure that even large graphics cards of up to 40 centimeters in length can be installed without any problems. Separately from the case, Sharkoon also offers an installation kit with PCIe 4.0 riser cable for vertical mounting of the graphics card. Especially in the RGB case, such a mounting makes sense for optical reasons.

CPU coolers can measure up to 16.5 centimeters, power supplies up to 27. Mainboards can be installed up to ATX format.

Price and availability

The new case is available immediately in a white as well as a black version. The price is 99.90 euros. The RGB variant costs 109.90 euros. The mounting kit is offered for 39.90 euros.
