Shure MoveMic introduced as a wireless clip-on microphone for content creators

Audio manufacturer Shure is best known for its almost legendary microphones such as the SM7b, but with the MV7X it also supplied a purist XLR microphone solution that impressed in our test last year. This impressive audio quality is now also available on the move. With the Shure MoveMic, the manufacturer has now introduced a wireless clip-on microphone that aims to inspire content creators in particular.

The Shure MoveMic in detail

The US manufacturer Shure is undoubtedly very active and is primarily known for its high-quality microphone and headphone models. A wireless clip-on microphone has not been part of the portfolio until now, but this has changed with the Shure MoveMic.

Despite its compact dimensions of 46 mm x 22 mm and a weight of just 8.2 grams, it promises high-quality technology and a convincing sound. At the same time, it is said to be the smallest and lightest wireless direct-to-phone two-channel lavalier solution on the market, which is particularly aimed at content creators, video bloggers and journalists.

In direct comparison to the AnkerWork M650 (our test), the Shure solution is undoubtedly much more compact. Alternatives such as the DJI MIC 2 are also somewhat larger in terms of dimensions.

The MoveMic is available either as a single-channel version (MoveMic One) or as MoveMic Two for two-channel recordings. The special feature: In combination with the Shure MOTIV app for iOS and Android, the lavalier microphone can be used without a receiver – the microphones connect directly to the smartphone via Bluetooth. However, recordings are then only possible in the manufacturer’s app.

For universal compatibility, the MoveMic Receiver is also available, either separately or as part of the MoveMic Two Receiver Kit. The receiver allows the clip-on microphones to be seamlessly connected to cameras, computers and third-party apps.

Highest quality in pocket size

Manufacturer Shure promises that the Shure MoveMic will maintain the high quality of the large microphone solutions and combine it with a compact format. The clip-on microphones have a discreet, black design that allows the majority of them to be concealed under clothing.

However, thanks to IPX4 certification, rain and splashing water cannot harm the microphones. Perfect for outdoor use.

Both MoveMics have a frequency response of 50 Hz to 20,000 Hz and offer a range of up to 30 meters to the respective audio source. Recordings are possible at a maximum depth of 24 bits with a sampling rate of 48 kHz.

The MoveMic One has an RRP of 289.00 euros, the two-channel solution MoveMic Two costs 399.00 euros. The receiver costs 229.00 euros, alternatively the Shure MoveMic Two is available as a kit including receiver for 569.00 euros.
