Sonos Fury Soundbar: Affordable model to launch in June

The Sonos soundbars Beam (Gen 2) and the top model Arc (our review) apparently get a favorable brother on the side. As the website The Verge reports, the Sonos Fury soundbar will launch as early as the beginning of June 2022, and will only cost half as much as the Beam model.

Sonos Fury soundbar in detail

Those who want to acquire a soundbar from the house of Sonos usually have to dig quite deep into their pockets. The RRP for the Beam model (Gen 2) is 499 euros. The top model Sonos Arc even costs 999 Euros.

With the new Sonos Fury soundbar, a new budget model is apparently already waiting for us from the beginning of June 2022, as the US website The Verge reports. The new soundbar with the model name S36 and the codename “Fury” could already be examined by the editor, after which they made render images of the soundbar. However, Sonos has yet to provide concrete details or an official announcement.

The budget soundbar is to be offered in black and white, which is typical for the manufacturer. With dimensions of 550 mm x 69 mm x 10 mm (length x depth x height), it should be even more compact than the Beam. The main reason for this is that there are apparently significantly fewer drivers to be used here.

Waiver of Dolby Atmos

In order to be able to realize the comparatively low price, the Sonos Fury Soundbar does without upward-facing speakers according to The Verge and thus does not support Dolby Atmos. Integrated microphones for voice control or an HDMI port are apparently not to be offered, either.

Only an optical cable is supposed to be included, which is why Sonos’ soundbar is supposed to be aimed at TV use and listening to music. Nevertheless, the Fury is supposed to be fully integrated into the Sonos system and thus enable a 5.1 surround solution together with the Arc soundbar or other speakers from the manufacturer, for example.

For this purpose, the Fury soundbar should also be able to be mounted vertically on a wall if desired, so that it can be used as a surround speaker. In combination with the angled side drivers, a better Atmos surround sound is supposed to be possible in this way.

Price and Availability

According to The Verge, the Sonos Fury Soundbar is scheduled to hit stores starting June 07 at an MSRP of $249.00. When asked, the manufacturer informed the website that they do not comment on corresponding rumors or speculations. If the US magazine is right, an announcement should be expected soon.
