Sony SRS-XV800: Massive Bluetooth speaker with powerful sound and 25h runtime

With the Sony SRS-XV800, the manufacturer has unveiled a new Bluetooth speaker that aims to provide impressive sound with its enormous size and scores with a battery life of 25 hours.

With the Sony SRS-XV800, the manufacturer wants to take on Bluetooth speakers like the Soundboks Go (our review) or the Marshall Woburn III (our review). But the Sony model promises even more.

A powerful, omnidirectional sound is offered, which is supposed to fill the entire room. In addition, there is a unique TV Sound Booster function that is supposed to improve the sound while watching TV.

Despite its size, the Bluetooth speaker should be easy to transport, the manufacturer promises. This is ensured by integrated wheels and a convenient handle. The indirect ambient light also illuminates the room and can be individually adjusted. Even synchronization to the beat of the music is possible.

Saturated sound and long battery life

A whole five front and rear tweeters and two X-Balanced speakers find room in the case, which are supposed to deliver audible and noticeable bass. The latter speakers are also supposed to increase the sound pressure, which should provide deeper and more powerful bass and a clear sound image.

In the announcement, Sony focuses on the bass tones in particular, so we can only hope that the mids and trebles will also play up accordingly. “The TV Sound Booster combines the sound of the TV with the sound from the rear tweeters and the X-Balanced bass speakers of the SRS-XV800 and thus enriches the sound image with rich bass and clear treble,” it continues.

Up to 25 hours of battery life are available for the BT speaker. Thanks to fast charging function, the speaker can be recharged in just 10 minutes for another 3 hours of music listening.

A karaoke and guitar input, an illuminated touch panel for operation and Bluetooth Fast Pair for Android are also offered. The Sony SRS-XV800 is also protected against water according to IPX4. In addition, the housing is made in parts from recycled plastic.

Price and Availability

The Sony SRS-XV800 Bluetooth speaker is expected to be available in stores before the end of May 2023 at a suggested retail price of €699.
