Thok Gram: E-MTB with carbon frame now available

Thok has announced a new promising bike. With the Thok Gram, the Italian manufacturer launches an e-mountain bike whose technical specifications sound promising. Since it is the company’s first e-mountain bike, the excitement is naturally all the higher. In particular, the use of a frame made of carbon should ensure that fans can hardly wait for the release.

Thok Gram is an E-MTB with a lightweight carbon frame

The use of carbon is probably one of the highlights of the Thok Gram. After all, one knows this rather from filigree models such as an Urtopia Carbon One (test). The Italian manufacturer now wants to prove that this is also possible with large-format mountain bikes. It is not only the carbon that should make the frame an eye-catcher.

The other design, for which Aldo Drudi is responsible, is also intended to make the enduro bike something very special on asphalt, but also off-road. To ensure that the e-bike can withstand the typical rigors of an off-road tour, the manufacturer continues to rely on robust components. Where possible, Thok even tries to hide the cables and other points of attack in the frame itself.

Best times thanks to well thought-out seating position

Ambitious mountain bikers should be able to set up best times with the Thok Gram. According to the manufacturer, not only the carbon frame should ensure this. On top of that, Thok promises an ergonomic positioning of saddle and pedals. The angle should be designed in such a way that the best possible power development is made possible for the legs. Also one would like to have created as deep a center of gravity as possible. This is to support the transfer of leg power to the bottom bracket even further. Those who like to ride downhill should be pleased with the brand new suspension. With TPS2 Thok has developed a completely new system. Thanks to optimal traction and flexibility, this should be able to dampen even hilly passages downhill optimally.

Thok Gram also comes in sport version

Already without an electric motor, this all sounds promising. With the support of the powerful drive, however, one should be able to bring an extra portion of comfort to the downhill fun on top of it. According to Thok, the EP8 motor should serve as a kind of ski lift for quickly climbing hills. Afterwards, it can then go downhill again. Those who like to ride downhill will certainly be very happy about this luxury. After all, experience shows that the descent is over in a flash, while the ascent is always associated with long arduous pedaling.

To ensure that the motor lasts for a while, Thok has equipped the e-bike with a 630 Wh battery. It can be easily removed for recharging. The EP8, which Thok installs in a closed system with components from Shimano, offers a total of two riding modes. If you want maximum support, you can choose Fast Ride. If the focus is on the endurance of the e-bike, Long Ride is the right choice. If the whole thing is still not sporty enough for you, you should also be able to buy the Thok Gram as a Sport version.

The Gram RC is a bit better equipped than the standard version in almost every way. For example, the Fox brand suspensions have a travel of 180 mm instead of 170 mm. Both models feature a 27.5-inch rear tire and a 29-inch Maxxis Assegai front tire. Prices and Availability

If you’re looking for an affordable e-bike, you probably won’t find it with the Thok Gram. While the Thok Gram starts at 7,490.00 euros, the RC version clocks in at 9,900.00 euros. For ambitious, semi- or even professional mountain bikers and downhill riders, however, this could be the perfect e-bike.
