TikTok tests payment model
TikTok follows Instragam and is now also testing a payment model in which users can tie access to certain content to a payment. More detailed information is still missing.
Payment models are becoming popular
Just a few days ago, Instagram announced it would invite selected people to join the test phase, giving them the opportunity to create exclusive content that can only be accessed in exchange for payment. Now TikTok is also testing this model, marking a fundamental change in the structure of social networks: With the introduction of payment models, they would move away from fundamental openness, which would ultimately consistently drive the development away from purely privately used to business exchange spaces.
Barely any information from TikTok
Unlike Instagram, however, TikTok has so far remained quite vague. More than the fact that the test phase has begun is not yet known. Who will participate, how long it will last, and whether there will be an expansion of the model at the end is not yet known. The payment models are also unknown.
In light of the fact that TikTok – again, unlike Instagram – already includes payment functions, the step taken with the test phase seems consistent. So far, it has been possible to give tips or send virtual gifts. TikTok has already tried to give users the opportunity to monetize their content. This would be further simplified with a subscription model.
