TUXEDO Stellaris 17 Gen 6: Linux gaming notebook with Intel Core i9-14900HX and RTX 4090

TUXEDO Computers is known for its high-performance PCs and notebooks optimized for Linux. The Atlas S and XL, two powerful gaming PCs, were recently presented in March. Now comes the TUXEDO Stellaris 17 Gen 6, a foretaste of the new gaming notebooks, which is strongly positioned with an Intel Core i9-14900HX and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090.

The TUXEDO Stellaris 17 Gen 6 in detail

“When looking at the technical data, it immediately becomes clear that the TUXEDO Stellaris 17 is a gaming and workstation notebook of the absolute high-end class, which accommodates the performance of a fast gaming desktop PC in a relatively compact and comfortable to transport as well as high-quality, robust housing,” promises the manufacturer in the presentation of the new TUXEDO Stellaris 17 and is undoubtedly not taking it too far.

The Linux gaming notebook uses an Intel Core i9-14900HX with 24 cores and 32 threads as well as 160 watts and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090, which can consume up to 175 watts of power. Alternatively, the notebook is also available with an RTX 4060/4070 with 140 watts or an RTX 4080 with 175 watts.

The notebook comes as a desktop replacement and measures 38.2 cm x 27.3 cm with a height of 2.7 centimeters and a weight of 2.8 kg. TUXEDO has given the notebook a 17-inch display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, a refresh rate of 240 Hz and a brightness of 380 cd/m². The display covers 99% of the sRGB color space and supports NVIDI G-Sync.

Large battery, mechanical keyboard

The TUXEDO Stellaris 17 Gen 6 is designed to keep the powerful hardware in check thanks to air cooling with a 50 mm and a large 60 mm fan and 6 heat pipes. The system can then consume a total of 230 watts (CPU 5 W, GPU 175 W).

Optionally, the notebook can be coupled with the external TUXEDO Aquaris stationary water cooling system, in which case it can even draw 275 watts (CPU 100 W, GPU 175 W). The connection is magnetic thanks to the Tongfang chassis, as we already know from the Medion Erazer Beast X40 (our test), for example.

Typing is done on a mechanical Cherry MX keyboard, while the battery has a capacity of 99 Wh and should provide a runtime of up to 10 hours when idle and around 7 hours when surfing or working with office programs.

Price and availability

The TUXEDO Stellaris 17 Gen 6 marks the first gaming notebook of the manufacturer’s sixth generation and will be complemented by the 16-inch Stellaris 16 and the compact 15-inch Stellaris 15 Slim in the future. The 17-inch version can now be configured directly with the manufacturer. It starts at a price of €2,099.00 with an RTX 4060 and Windows 11 can be easily configured on request.
