Twitter saves toilet paper and cleaning costs after acquisition, pays no rent

By now, everyone should have noticed that things have been going haywire since Elon Musk took over Twitter. According to a report, the billionaire has now implemented further drastic cost-cutting measures over Christmas, and employees even had to bring their own toilet paper.

Elon Musk is implementing strict cost-cutting measures at Twitter. As the New York Times reports, employees have even had to bring their own toilet paper to the office since Christmas 2022, as Musk no longer provides it for free.

Also the cleaning personnel in the office of Twitter in New York is to be dismissed according to it – accordingly the office and sanitary rooms are to look however now also, report employees.  It is also conceivable that one of two offices in New York will be closed completely.

In the office in Seattle and in the company headquarters in San Francisco Twitter further reportedly no longer paid rent. The Seattle office was also reportedly on the verge of closing.

“Why don’t you stay home?”

Platformer editor Zoë Schiffer also reported via Twitter an internal email she had in which Twitter urges Seattle employees to work from home. Interesting, since Musk first at Tesla, then also at Twitter rejected home offices and is even said to have threatened layoffs.

Further, Schiffer reports that Twitter plans to shut down its Sacramento data center and downsize another in Atlanta in early January 2023 to cut costs. Musk himself tweeted on Dec. 24, 2022, about having shut down one of the more sensitive server racks.

The cost-cutting measures at Twitter are thus slowly taking on absurd forms. Especially since, after all, on Dec. 19 Twitter users had called for Musk’s resignation in a vote. On December 27, a data leak was also confirmed, which is said to have affected sensitive information from around 400 million accounts.
