VW presents VW ID. Aero: Is the E-Passat finally coming?

Is the long-awaited E-Passat really coming to the market? The pictures now presented by Volkswagen of the VW ID. Aero study now presented by Volkswagen suggest that this is the case. This could bring a serious electric station wagon to the German market as early as 2023.

If you look around the electric car market, you will now find many different shapes, performance and sizes. This is also the case in the ranks of Volkswagen. If you like it small, reach for the electric subcompact VW-e-up! Should one prefer an e-SUV, the VW ID.5 is more recommended. Families with large space requirements may also take a seat in the ID.Buzz from the fall.

But what does it actually look like with station wagons? Here, the only choice on the entire electromobility market at the moment is the MG5 Electric, which is not only the first e-wagon but also the only one on the market so far. But that is likely to be over soon. Volkswagen wants to finally make its popular Passat station wagon electric with its VW ID Aero.

World premiere from VW still in June

While we are currently only allowed to see study images of the VW ID. Aero, but soon Volkswagen wants to provide real evidence. On June 27, the official presentation of the new model should take place. The pictures, which we already have, already look promising and speak the same design language as the rest of the ID family.

Will mean that the iconic LED band on front and rear headlights will be used here as well. The first images are even somewhat reminiscent of the first concept images that Audi published in March for its upcoming A6 Avant E-Tron. The similarities are no coincidence. After all, both the ID and e-Tron series rely on Volkswagen’s MEB platform.

Interior possibly from VW ID. Space Vizzion

Volkswagen emphasizes its focus on aerodynamic design when laying out its body lines. This is to ensure maximum range and lowest possible energy consumption. While VW placed primary emphasis on body design when releasing the sketches, from previous studies such as the ID. Space Vizzion but you can get an idea of what it might look like inside.

In line with the general trend, VW is going for an almost homely interior here, which invites you to linger. The centerpiece is a huge display that will certainly serve as a command center between the driver and front passenger. Other buttons can not be made out on the first images namely yet.

Availability according to VW from 2023

On June 27 at 2 p.m., the official presentation of the upcoming electric Passat is scheduled to take place. Hopefully, VW will also be able to at least hint at when the promising e-car will go on sale in this country. So far, we only know that it will be sold in China from the second half of 2023. Only then will the Western market be addressed.
