With the WL7022, Dell has introduced a new wireless headset designed primarily for use in a professional context.
Business headset for loud environments
The headset is equipped with both a USB-A connector and a Bluetooth interface. Thus, it should be able to connect to a wide variety of output devices without any problems, which can be an advantage in a professional context. Accordingly, it is not only compatible with Windows devices, but also with those that rely on macOS, iOS or Android. According to Dell, the wireless range is 30 meters.
It is also interesting that the device is equipped with active noise-cancelling technology, which makes it suitable for use in loud environments. With this, the manufacturer should primarily target users who want to use the headset in an open-plan office after the pandemic and accordingly depend on blocking out the other conversations conducted there. The integrated microphone is also equipped with noise-canceling technology, so that conversation partners are also not disturbed by the noise in the vicinity of the person using the headset.
The noise-cancelling function and the volume can be controlled directly on the ear cup. The headset is also equipped with a mechanism that automatically mutes the headset when it is removed, and a headband that is made of real leather – contrary to industry practice. There’s also a 325 mAh battery that can be fully charged in two and a half hours via USB cable or the included charging stand. Fully charged, it should last between ten and fifteen hours.
Price and Availability
In the U.S., the headset will be available starting June 25 for the surprisingly high sum of $300, given its stated features. It is not yet known when and at what price the device will be sold in Europe.
