Yamaha TW-E3B: Mass Compatible True Wireless In-Ears

Yamaha is setting itself up broadly for the summer business in the headphone segment. The audio expert has several new products ready. Besides the expensive YH-L700A, which are clearly reserved for the premium segment, the company has also introduced headphones for the masses. The Yamaha TW-E3B true wireless in-ears look promising at first glance. This is not least ensured by the fair price.

Wireless sound with splash protection

Meanwhile, pretty much every headphone manufacturer also offers true-wireless in-ears. That’s hardly surprising given their practicality. After all, these are not only portable thanks to a practical transport case. On top of that, they do without annoying cables, which can drive sportsmen to rage from time to time. Of course, high-resolution Bluetooth 5.0 also ensures wireless music transmission between the headphones and the source device in the TW-E3B. Athletes will not only be happy about the wireless design. On top of that, Yamaha promises protection against splash water, dust and dirt here. IPX5 certification makes it possible.

Yamaha is by no means new to the true-wireless in-ears segment. Rather, the TW-E3B are the latest generation of completely wireless in-ears from the hifi expert. Speaking of hifi – Yamaha installs a dynamic 6 mm driver here, which should be able to provide a rich sound. In view of the comparatively wide frequency range, we like to believe this. Further guarantees for the high music quality are aptX from Qualcomm and AAC. Even though all this sounds like much more technology than in the predecessor, this does not mean that the headphones have grown at all. Quite the contrary. Yamaha has even made the true-wireless in-ears a quarter smaller.

Insulation from external noise

An active noise cancellation as we know it, for example, from the True-Wireless-In-Ears from Sony or Apple, the growth in the headphone segment from Yamaha does not have to offer. However, you cannot expect this in view of the comparatively low RRP. According to Yamaha, you can still look forward to reliable protection from annoying external noise. After all, the in-ears were designed to provide passive isolation.

While there’s no ANC on board, Yamaha by no means forgoes a few handy technical gimmicks. For example, one encounters the Listening Care technology here. This is supposed to be able to adapt the current playback to the situation the listener is currently in. This is a feature based on YPAO volume. Owners of a Yamaha receiver certainly know the latter from the setup of their device.

Practical app

Both Android smartphone and iPhone owners should be able to make individual settings using Yamaha’s in-house “Headphones Controller App.” But an operation of the small headphones shall not only be possible with your smartphone. Yamaha also gives its small in-ears practical buttons on the casing itself.

Support for Google Assistant and Apple’s Siri is also included. Yamaha specifies a battery life of six hours. The included carrying case is not only suitable for storage, but also charges the battery of the small in-ears, as is typical for the market. The battery is said to be able to charge the in-ears a total of three times, providing 18 more hours of music enjoyment.

Price and Availability

Available in black, gray, blue, green, purple and pink, you can buy the in-ears now. For its TW-E3B, Yamaha is asking for an MSRP of a fair 99 euros.
