ZTE Axon 40 Ultra launches for 829 euros in Europe

A bang for the buck at manufacturer ZTE. The new flagship smartphone ZTE Axon 40 Ultra, which we already introduced to you a good month ago, is also coming to Europe. On the one hand, it will be available in about two weeks, and on the other hand, it will be much cheaper than expected. From 829 euros it goes off.

The highlights of the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra

In mid-May, ZTE unveiled the Axon 40 series in China, which is led by the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra. The flagship smartphone has a lot to offer here. Features include a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,480 x 1,116 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. It comes with an impressive brightness of 1,500 nits, 10-bit color depth, and 100% DCI-P3 color space coverage. In addition, the front-facing camera is installed underneath the display, so the AMOLED panel takes up the entire front.

Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 works under the hood, which is supported by 8 GB, 12 GB or even 16 GB LPDDR6 RAM. 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB of UFS 3.1 storage are also offered, as well as a 36.356 mm² vapor-chamber cooling and a Snapdragon sound chip that even enables DTS-X:Ultra surround sound.

At least in China, because the models with 16 GB RAM, 512 GB ROM or 1 TB system memory remain reserved for the manufacturer’s home country – a pity. This is joined by a 5,000 mAh battery that can be fast-charged with 80 watts.

Strong triple camera

The camera setup of the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra is also very important. On the rear, the flagship relies on three cameras, each offering a resolution of 64 megapixels. They consist of a fast main camera with f/1.6 aperture and a focal length of 35 mm including optical image stabilizer, an ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.35 and 16 mm focal length and OIS.

The third in the bunch is a telephoto camera with periscope lens, which comes to 91 mm focal length and an aperture of f/3.5, together. With the ultra-wide-angle camera, it should even be possible to shoot impressive macro shots from a distance of just 4 centimeters. In addition, videos in 8K resolution can be recorded with all three lenses. The selfie camera, however, which – as already mentioned rests invisibly under the display – only resolves with 16 megapixels.

Price and availability

The ZTE Axon 40 Ultra will find its way into stores in this country from June 21, 2022. Thereby, the MSRP is 829 euros for the model with 8 GB of working memory and 128 GB of system memory. The top model with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB ROM has an MSRP of 949.00 Euros.

Pre-orders start tomorrow and with a down payment of 1.99 euros. Those who pre-order the smartphone directly from the manufacturer will also secure a discount of 50 Euros on the retail price and thus only pay 779 Euros for the flagship in the end.
