In the field of robot vacuums and vacuum cleaners, Dreame is undoubtedly one of the best-known and most popular manufacturers on the entire market. The company from the Far East offers both affordable entry-level models and pioneering flagship devices in its broad product portfolio. In the Dreame Z30 test, I put the manufacturer’s latest premium cordless vacuum cleaner through its paces. Is it really worth the almost surprisingly high RRP of just under 600 euros for Dreame? We’ll tell you!

Scope of delivery
When the Dreame Z30 arrived at my home, I was surprised at how small the packaging was. I was slightly worried that the scope of delivery would be small despite the high price. However, this fear was unfounded, as a glance inside the packaging made clear. In fact, Dreame is once again very generous and includes quite a lot of accessories.

Dreame Z30 test: design and workmanship
Unsurprisingly, the Dreame Z30 is clearly reminiscent of other Dreame cordless vacuum cleaners such as the Dreame R20 (review) or the Dreame Z10 Station (review). The household helper mainly comes in black and dark gray. Only the motor unit has a chic matt aluminum look. Fine accents, reminiscent of a gold tone, serve as eye-catchers.
The motor unit is and remains the centerpiece. This is where the battery, motor and control unit are located. The Z30 does not rely on classic trigger operation, where you pull a trigger with your index finger to start and stop the suction process. Instead, you use your thumb to switch it on and off. The two buttons are located at the rear of the motor unit, directly below the display.
The button with two circular arrows is used to switch between the suction modes. The On/Off button, on the other hand, switches the device on and off. If you miss a wall bracket on the Z30, you could be looking for a long time. After all, the model relies on a stable base station that not only holds the cordless vacuum cleaner itself, but also the accessories. At least the small attachments.
It’s a shame that you can’t fit everything in here, as is the case with a Jimmy PW11 Pro Max (review), for example. The station is also less feature-rich than the Dreame Z10 Station. Despite the higher price, you don’t get a suction function here. As is so often the case, it’s simply a question of weighing up the pros and cons. After all, the Z30 offers significantly more attachments in return.
Dreame Z30 test: Accessories
As already mentioned, the scope of delivery is really extensive. This is because Dreame includes all kinds of accessories. As soon as you attach the attachments for the first time, it becomes clear that the cordless vacuum cleaner has a really excellent build quality. It doesn’t crack or creak at any point. Everything snaps together wonderfully smoothly.
Two floor brushes are also included. While the multifloor brush can be used on both carpets and hard floors, the roller brush is specially designed for hard floors. Both come with helpful LED lighting on the front. This should not only ensure visibility under flat furniture.
The blue coloring and the perfect angle of incidence of the light make dust particles much more visible. It is not only the two large “main brushes” that rely on motor operation. The mini brush, which is mainly used on upholstered furniture or car seats, is also motorized.
The 2-in-1 cleaning brush is perfect for use in narrow niches. The soft brush, on the other hand, is perfect for vacuuming delicate wooden furniture or the keyboard. For me as a dog owner, however, the de-matting attachment for pets is particularly interesting. I tried out how well it works in practice on my Golden Retriever, who is blessed with an abundance of fur.
More about the results later in the practical test. I would also like to highlight the Flexi hose. This enables cleaning even under flat furniture. The Dreame Z30 leaves an excellent impression in terms of design and workmanship, apart from the base, which is a little too small.
Dreame Z30 test: Practical test
Suction power
Let’s move on to the supreme discipline – suction power. The Dreame Z30 works with 310 Airwatt. This gives the motor impressive power, at least on paper, to deal with even stubborn dirt. I let it vacuum up the everyday dirt on my hard floors.
It had no problems with crumbs, dust, cat litter and pet hair. Thanks to the LED lighting, the user can always keep an eye on the dirt. But you can also simply rely on the household helper’s built-in dirt sensor. The results can be read on the display.
It leaves a similarly positive impression when cleaning carpets. Both my short-pile carpet in the hallway and my long-pile bathroom rug were no problem for the Z30. It was able to really flex its muscles here. However, the vacuum had a completely different problem with the rug. The main brush got stuck here from time to time.
In my opinion, this is because the cordless vacuum cleaner simply called up too much power and the vacuum became too great. To protect the motor from damage, the appliance stops in this case. Dreame could have invested a little more fine-tuning in the automatic adjustment of the suction power here. However, the whole thing didn’t really bother me.
Ease of use
There are a total of three different cleaning modes to choose from. Eco mode offers the gentlest and most energy-saving performance. In Auto mode, on the other hand, the vacuum cleaner automatically adjusts the suction power. The degree of soiling serves as a parameter here. In practice, I was able to rely on the automatic adjustment very well. The maximum suction power is then available in Boost mode.
During cleaning, you can always keep an eye on numerous cleaning parameters on the stylish display. This not only includes the battery status and the remaining battery life. The results of the dirt sensor can also be seen here. The same applies to the current cleaning mode. You can even see the size of the particles picked up here. Dreame sets new standards in terms of battery vacuum cleaner displays.
Of course, the weight of a cordless vacuum cleaner is also crucial for comfortable operation. At 2.2 kg, the household helper is not a lightweight, but it’s also not a heavy handful. Some of the competition weighs considerably more, which can make for heavy arms after a long cleaning session. When talking about convenience, the general operation should not be ignored.
This is intuitive and quick to learn. You only have to press the power button once and the device will vacuum continuously until you press the button again to switch it off. Fortunately, it is not necessary to hold the button down. Last but not least, I would like to emphasize the ease of movement of the cordless vacuum cleaner. It can be moved around corners and from A to B at lightning speed.
Special attachment for pet hair
With the two main brushes, the Z30 already delivers a great performance. But how do the additional attachments perform in practice? They are simply super practical. Firstly, there is the flexible hose, which can be used as an extension for hard-to-reach areas.
I found this particularly useful in combination with the 2-in-1 crevice nozzle. It was particularly helpful in tight spaces. For example, I was able to clean the seats and floor mats in my car without having to bend over too much.
A highlight is the upholstery brush, which also gets support from the motor. With this, it was a breeze to remove pet hair and other dirt from my couch. However, I think it’s a bit of a shame that there is no lighting. I was particularly excited about the special attachment for pet owners.
With its help, you are supposed to be able to skillfully remove pet hair. However, not from the floor or seating furniture, but from the animal itself. It worked really well on my hairy golden retriever. As the cordless vacuum cleaner is pleasantly quiet, my dog went through the procedure without any problems. However, I can imagine that other animals might have problems with it.
This is a real game changer for me. After all, I’ve been struggling with my dog’s hair ever since he moved in with me. Thanks to the pet brush with attached vacuum cleaner, the hair doesn’t even have a chance to fly through the household. So I could imagine vacuuming not only the floors but also my dog during the weekly house cleaning.
Dreame Z30 test: Battery with endurance
On paper, the Dreame Z30 has an extremely long-lasting battery, which is also replaceable. The battery is supposed to last an impressive 90 minutes. That’s a real claim, but unfortunately the reality is somewhat different. In the test, I was able to tease a running time of just under 60 minutes out of the vacuum cleaner on the lowest setting. With a runtime of one hour, the Z30 can easily keep up with other flagships in this category.
However, this is a considerable distance from the stated runtime of one and a half hours. The factory specifications can therefore be categorized more as “marketing speak”. Since the Z30 will be used in auto mode most of the time, the runtime is of course much more exciting here. In my case, the Z30 lasted just under 40 minutes at this level. In power mode, I finished after a good 15 minutes. Also very good values.
Dreame Z30 test: State-of-the-art filter system
The filter system is particularly important for allergy sufferers. And Dreame makes no compromises here. According to the manufacturer, the built-in HEPA filters are able to filter out 99.9 percent of air particles. But it’s not just the high-performance filters that are allergy-friendly. The design of the dust container is too.
This allows you to empty the container, which has a somewhat small volume of 600 ml, without coming into contact with the dust. Simply press a button and the lid of the dust container opens and is ready to be emptied. Apart from that, there is not much to consider when it comes to maintenance. The filter and dirt container can be easily rinsed out and then dried.
Conclusion
In the test, the Dreame Z30 proves to be a powerful and well-made premium cordless vacuum cleaner with a comprehensive range of accessories. Despite its high price of just under 600 euros, it offers great value for money. The workmanship and design are impressive with high-quality materials and a sophisticated look, although the base station is a little too small and does not offer a suction function. The suction power of the Z30 is impressive and handles both hard floors and carpets with ease.
The LED lighting on the brushes is a practical feature that makes the cleaning process easier. However, the vacuum cleaner shows small weaknesses on long-pile carpets, where the brush occasionally stops. The ease of use is high thanks to the low weight of 2.2 kg, intuitive operation and clear display. The extensive range of accessories, which offers various attachments for different cleaning tasks, is particularly positive. The special attachment for pet hair works well and could be a real game changer for pet owners.
The Z30’s battery lasts around 60 minutes in eco mode, which is a great performance, but falls short of the stated 90 minutes. The Z30’s filter system is modern and efficient, which also makes it attractive for allergy sufferers. Overall, the Dreame Z30 is a versatile and powerful cordless vacuum cleaner that is particularly impressive thanks to its accessories and ease of use.
