Active Noise Cancelling headphones are almost mandatory in buses and trains, others use them to listen to music comfortably without any interference. With the TaoTronics TT-BH047, there is a cost-effective variant of such headphones on the market. We test whether the headphones can withstand everyday use.
Scope of Delivery
The scope of delivery is manageable. A microUSB cable for charging and a 3.5 mm audio cable are included in the package. Obligatory also a manual, which we have simply disregarded once. The headphones themselves are in a plastic shell for transport protection.

Pairing and Operation
The connection between headphones and receiver is simple. Press and hold the power button to switch on the headphones and a voice sounds. “Power on, pairing” is the word on the speakers. On the smartphone, in this case a Huawei P20 Lite, we check the Bluetooth settings. We’ll find the headphones right there. TaoTronics TT-BH047 is in the settings. Click on the headphones and a connection is established. The short announcement “Paired” confirms the successful connection.
For multimedia control, all buttons are located on the right side. Volume up/down, pause title and the slider for switching ANC (Active Noise Cancelling) on and off. The volume adjustment buttons can also be used to skip or backspace songs. On the right side you will also find the charging socket and the jack input.
Haptics and Optics
The TT-BH047 is a true flyweight. It weighs 220 g, which is due not least to the plastic used. The bracket itself is reinforced with a metal rail, which makes it very flexible and can be bent to almost 180°. The metal rail runs up to the size adjustment.
The TaoTronics TT-BH047 is the right choice for those who like black. It is made almost exclusively in plain matt black. The only accents are on the auricle. The outside is decorated with the company logo and a ring around it, both in silver. There is another silver ring at the transition to the ear padding. Otherwise there are no colour highlights.
Despite the plastic used, the headphones have a high-quality feel. This is mainly due to the smooth surface and the workmanship quality. There are no sharp edges or other defects. The temple is padded with soft rubber for greater wearing comfort. The auricles are made of imitation leather and very well padded.
Sound of the TaoTronics TT-BH047
But you don’t just buy headphones because of their looks, the sound must also be right. The volume of the TaoTronics is appropriate. On the busy main road in Lübeck, the headphones have to be set very loud, but the sound quality suffers. This is generally only “okay”. The subject of bass could be almost completely eliminated, because it is barely perceptible. Midrange and treble are good, but at higher volume it starts to crackle and sounds tinny due to the bad bass.
For me the sound is absolutely sufficient. The headphones were used on the way to work and most of the time I spend in the train. There the ANC is especially helpful, more about that now.
ANC – Active Noise Cancelling
Despite my huge head, the headphones don’t fit too tight. The padded shells sit completely over the ear. Outside noise is already very well shielded. If Active Noise Cancelling is switched on, noise sources are further minimized. Annoying conversations between passengers on the train are a thing of the past. For testing purposes, a main road with good traffic in Lübeck had to be used again. There the ANC failed, the noises of the vehicles are really only minimally dampened. The TaoTronics TT-BH047 is therefore only conditionally suitable for everyday use.
Conclusion of the TaoTronics TT-BH047 Review
The TaoTronics TT-BH047 is available for Product. Although mainly plastic is used, the headphones are very well made. The user gets solid headphones with a long battery life of up to 24 hours. They are also comfortable to wear and even large heads are no problem.
The sound has to be reduced at this price, just like with the ANC function. Outside noise is not perfectly attenuated and the lack of bass in particular reduces the rating of the headphones.
The connection was sometimes interrupted, but it wasn’t really worth mentioning, because otherwise the Bluetooth connection was flawless.
The TaoTronics TT-BH047 are therefore only recommended to a limited extent. You don’t want to take a lot of money into your hands and still have over-ear Bluetooth headphones with Active Noise Cancelling? These headphones might actually be interesting for you!
