TINECO Pure One A30S test: design and workmanship

Tineco is not reinventing the wheel when it comes to the design of the A30S. That’s not meant to be a criticism. After all, a tried-and-tested design ensures that even non-experts can quickly get to grips with the smart household helper. The handpiece is located in the upper section of the cordless vacuum cleaner. Here, the A30S relies on a classic pistol grip.

However, a major advantage of the A30S is the ability to comfortably reach around it. This means that the vacuum cleaner can always be used ergonomically. Incidentally, you won’t find a conventional trigger, which has been commonplace on cordless vacuum cleaners since the success of the Dyson models. Instead, Tineco relies on a small control unit that is operated with the thumb rather than the index finger.

Not only can the device be switched on and off here. The second button can also be used to conveniently switch between the three suction modes Eco, Auto and Max. An LED symbolizes the result of the iLoop dirt sensor. If it lights up red, there is still residual dirt. If the LED is blue, however, the area is clean.

In addition to the 160 watt motor, the handpiece also houses the 1 liter dust container including a five-stage filter system that filters 99.97 percent of all particles from the air. Last but not least is the battery. This is removable and can be replaced, which quickly made me forget the somewhat clunky design of the battery.

A replaceable battery is anything but a matter of course in this price range and makes the cordless vacuum cleaner a pleasantly sustainable product. While models with a permanently installed battery, such as a Tineco Pure One Air PET+ (review), have to be disposed of without further ado if the battery is defective, a new battery can easily be inserted in the A30S. In addition, the battery life can be extended in this way.

In the standard design, the handpiece connects to the suction tube and then to the main brush. Engaging and removing the various elements is wonderfully easy. At this point at the latest, it becomes clear that Tineco is once again living up to its reputation and focusing on great workmanship. Coupled with the color combination of white, black and grey, the A30S is a really stylish piece of household technology that also has a high-quality feel.

TINECO Pure One A30S test: The attachments

Although the Pure One A30S is a mid-range model considering the price, the vacuum cleaner comes with a presentable range of features. In addition to the standard design, it can also be used as a handheld vacuum cleaner. Tineco includes various attachments for this purpose. Most of the time, however, the cordless vacuum cleaner will certainly be used in combination with the suction tube and main brush.

The main brush of the A30S has two practical features. The most striking is certainly the LED lighting. This ensures that you can see the floor even under flat furniture and in dark corners. However, this is not a special dust light that can be used to make small particles visible.

This is still reserved for premium models such as the Dreame Z30 (review). The second feature can be recognized by looking at the brush itself. Here too, Tineco relies on its own Anti-Tangle technology. Here, the brush is combed, so to speak, to prevent hair from tangling. This is of course particularly practical for pet owners.

Tineco includes a crevice nozzle for use as a handheld vacuum cleaner. This is particularly good for cleaning sofa crevices. There is also a 2-in-1 dust brush. This can be used to remove dust from surfaces.

The bristle attachment that can be put on is also gentle on sensitive surfaces. When I first saw the third attachment, I assumed it was an upholstery brush. However, it is actually a lint brush, which is also a practical gadget for pet owners.

TINECO Pure One A30S test: Practical test

Before we get down to business, let’s first take a closer look at the technical data. The Tineco A30S offers a presentable suction power of 20000 Pascal. And you can definitely feel this in use. First, I tested the cordless vacuum cleaner and its capabilities on my hard floors. Here I scattered a little rice and cornflakes. This was no problem at all for the smart household helper. It even mastered cat litter with flying colors.

Sometimes I had to run over the crumbs several times to get everything, but in the end my tiled, laminate and vinyl floors were reliably cleaned of dirt. The cordless vacuum cleaner also left a positive impression on carpets. It even left high-pile carpets with a respectable result. Although more expensive flagship models have a better cleaning performance here, the price difference should not be ignored.

The A30S also impressed me in practice as a handheld vacuum cleaner. Whether couch, sideboard or car seats – the handy household helper proved to be a practical vacuuming aid. I mainly used the vacuum cleaner in car mode. Here, it reliably adjusted the suction power to the prevailing degree of soiling, which the iLoop sensor determines. All in all, the suction performance completely convinced me in view of the comparatively low price.

TINECO Pure One A30S test: ease of use

The Tineco Pure One A30S is intuitive and easy to use. However, when it comes to ease of use, there is a noticeable difference to more expensive models. Firstly, there is the lack of dust lighting. To be honest, I’ve now got used to being able to see dust particles on the floor better with the help of the flat angle lighting.

However, given the low price, this should not be a major criticism. What bothered me a little more was the rather large handpiece. The size is not only due to the bulky battery, but primarily to the dust container.

If you want to use a cordless vacuum cleaner primarily as a handheld vacuum cleaner, you will find much more compact models on the market. However, I really liked the handpiece, which offers two grip options for the hand. This allows you to reach both low and high areas without cramping.

TINECO Pure One A30S test: Battery and maintenance

The A30S is easy to maintain. This is because the large dust container can be easily opened by pulling the corresponding lever. Allergy sufferers will be particularly pleased about this. After all, this way you don’t even come into contact with the dirt.

To ensure that the filter does a reliable job for as long as possible, you can easily clean it under cold running water. This is also quick and easy to do. The rechargeable battery offers a runtime of up to 60 minutes. This information from Tineco is probably only true in Eco mode. However, half an hour is also possible in Auto mode.

In the test, we ran the A30S at the highest level in Max mode and it lasted a good quarter of an hour, which is a really good value. If that’s not enough, the replaceable battery design comes into play again. This makes it easy to replace the battery with a fully charged one if it gives up the ghost.

Conclusion

The Tineco Pure One A30S impresses as a well-equipped mid-range cordless vacuum cleaner with an excellent price-performance ratio. It offers a powerful 20,000 Pascal suction power that delivers good results, especially on hard floors and carpets, even if more expensive models have a slight advantage on deep-pile carpets. Thanks to the iLoop sensor, it automatically adjusts the suction power, which ensures comfortable use in auto mode.

The replaceable battery and easy maintenance of the appliance are particularly positive features that contribute to a longer service life. The various attachments and the LED lighting on the main brush also offer practical application options. The anti-tangle technology makes it particularly attractive for pet owners.

Disadvantages are the comparatively clunky design of the handpiece, especially when used as a handheld vacuum cleaner, and the lack of dust lighting. Nevertheless, the Pure One A30S impresses overall with its ergonomics, ease of use, good workmanship and, above all, its outstanding price. For the price, it offers many useful functions that are often only found in higher-priced models.
