Packaging & Scope of delivery
The ROCCAT Khan AIMO is delivered in a black retail package, which you are used to with ROCCAT products. The scope of delivery is modest, but more than sufficient, since the drivers and further information can be found on the Internet.
Design & Processing
The design of the ROCCAT Khan AIMOs can be described as the classic design of a gaming headset: black, martial and with RGB LEDs. The ear cups and temples are padded with a comfortable memory foam and the ear cups can be rotated 90 degrees to allow the headset to be stored. The USB cable is a full 2.45 meters long and braided for long life.
The headband can be adjusted in 12 steps on each side to the individual head shape of the gamers, so that maximum comfort is guaranteed. The volume control and the 7.1 to 2.0 sound switch are located at the rear of the right ear cups.
Of course, the RGB LED lighting should not be missing. This can be found on the rear third of the auricle as well as on the joint of the retaining bracket. The illumination can be adjusted via the SWARM software and coordinated with other ROCCAT products.
Technology & Software
The ROCCAT Khan AIMO is advertised with a maximum sampling rate of “24-bit, 96,000 MHz”, at the same time USB 2.0 is specified for compatibility. Both are correct separately, but you need a USB 3.1 port for the maximum sampling rate. With USB 2.0 and 24-bit/96.000 MHz, Windows otherwise displays a USB resource conflict. Unfortunately, this is not exactly stated on the manufacturer’s page or other reviews (at least the ones I looked at to find a solution to the problem).
sampling rate: | USB 2.0 | USB 3.0 | USB 3.1 |
24-bit, 96.000 MHz | no | no | yes |
24-bit, 48.000 MHz | no | yes | yes |
16-bit, 44.100 MHz | yes | yes | yes |
Various settings can be made via the software. In addition to mixing your own sound profiles, you can also select prefabricated profiles, for example for FP shooters or RPGs. Here you can also adjust the surround sound and microphone settings.
Of course, the RGB LED illumination of the ROCCAT Khan AIMO may also be adjusted in the SWARM software. Five lighting modes are available, which can be controlled both in speed and brightness. Via the color selection 15 predefined colors can be selected, the 16th button deactivates the illumination. Up to seven own color tones can also be added to the color palette.
Sound
The sound experience is a subjective experience, which is why I assign it to my personal conclusion. In my more than 20 years as a PC gamer I have tried many gaming headsets, from “cheap” to “high quality”. The ROCCAT Khan AIMO definitely belongs to the category “high quality”. On the product page of the Khan AIMOs ROCCAT advertises with various features and properties and what at first glance looks like the usual marketing phrases, must be definitely confirmed after a detailed test.
The 24-bit 96KHz DAC sound card does an outstanding job. Games just sound awesome and also when streaming Netflix I notice clear differences to my “old” Logitech headset. But not only when listening, also when “being heard” the ROCCAT Khan AIMO reaches new dimensions and in Discord as well as in Teamspeak the new gaming headset attracted attention immediately!

Wearing comfort
The comfort is also very high, because the memory foam, the adjustment possibilities and the low weight are a wonderful combination. The RGB LED lighting is of course a matter of taste, but you can switch it off if you need to. Also the comfortable and intuitive SWARM software, with which I now control three ROCCAT products, is a clear plus point for the ROCCAT Khan AIMO.
Fulness
The bottom line is therefore a clear buy recommendation for the ROCCAT Khan AIMO*. The technology is very good. The comfort is very high, even if my head shouldn’t be bigger (a friend with a large head circumference found the headset too tight, even the adjustment possibilities didn’t help). The software is easy to use. Only the relatively high acquisition costs may deter, but quality has its price.
