Test: Real Wireless Gaming with the Corsair Harpoon RGB Wireless Mouse

Corsair’s Harpoon RGB Wireless promises the same gaming experience as a wired mouse. Thanks to its new slipstream technology, latencies of less than one millisecond should not only be achieved, but this property should also be maintained up to a range of 10 meters.

Whether the Harpoon RGB Wireless with a price of almost 60 EUR also keeps what Corsair promises, you can see here in the test.

Design and Workmanship

The Harpoon RGB Wireless is a gaming mouse with clear, curved lines. At first glance, the compact mouse looks simple, but that’s why it’s a real statement, not just on a gaming table. With 6 programmable keys you are well prepared for heated battles and with the rubberized surfaces on both sides you never lose your grip. The illuminated Corsair logo then puts the Harpoon in the right light.

The very first touch makes you realize that you are holding a high-quality product in your hand. Despite its low weight of only 99 grams, it does not look cheap. It fits well in any hand, whether held with claw or fingertip grip. Each key is in the right position and easy to reach.

Equipment and Operation

The compact mouse contains a lot of technology. With Corsair’s new Slipstream technology, there’s no difference to a wired mouse during use. No lag could be detected in the test. A practical feature is that the 2.4 GHz radio receiver can be placed directly inside the mouse. So it can always be taken along and is not lost. But if you want to do without a dongle on the road, you can also operate the Harpoon RGB Wireless via Bluetooth. That’s great because it’s so easy to use at home as a gaming mouse or on a notebook while traveling.

And if the battery should be empty, you can simply continue to gamble while charging via a USB cable. With a battery life of up to 45 hours with the 2.4 GHz adapter and even up to 60 hours via Bluetooth, this can take a while. The right and left mouse buttons are equipped with Omron switches, which are designed for up to 50 million clicks. Both have an excellent pressure point, as do all other keys. The optical PMW3325 sensor reaches up to 10,000 DPI, which can be set by software in 1-step steps.

Ergonomics

When you take the Harpoon RGB Wireless in your hand, you don’t want to let it go. Although it is compact, every key is easy to reach. The rubberized surfaces on both sides ensure a perfect grip in any situation, whether in a heated battle at home gaming PC or in the university during a lecture.

Software

Corsair’s iCUE software provides a comprehensive solution for configuring all of Corsair’s products, whether mouse, keyboard or fan. For this purpose, all individual devices with RGB lighting can be synchronized with each other. The software is always clear and easy to use.

On the left side you can access all different settings. Under “Actions” you can e.g. assign macros to almost all keys or remappen other keys of the keyboard. In the “Lighting effects” tab, the RGB lighting can be set as desired. Whether rainbow effect, a simple color change or pulsating colors, everything can be individually adjusted. In the “DPI” section you can, as the name suggests, set the sensitivity of the mouse. You can configure six different presets with values from 200 to 10,000 DPI. For each preset there is even a color selectable in which the DPI LED on top of the Harpoon RGB Wireless will light up accordingly. All settings are also stored directly on the mouse. This eliminates the hassle of reconfiguring, no matter which computer you are on.

Corsair Harpoon RGB Wireless Review Conclusion

The Harpoon RGB Wireless Gaming Mouse from Corsair is a real bargain with almost 60 EUR. Their outstanding wireless technology is truly spectacular. Real wireless gaming without compromise, no more cable clutter. We were thrilled by the mouse in the test.
