Change Valorant name – this is how it works

Valorant, the first first-person shooter from the house of Riot Games, which has been criticized in the past for questionable data protection, is enjoying growing popularity. Available since mid-2020, the game relies entirely on team modes and requires a lot of tactical skill to achieve victories. With its multiplayer orientation and iconic cartoon graphics, Valorant makes it clear that it’s the outward effect that counts here. Accordingly, many players attach great importance to having a representative name assigned to their character in the game. But how can you change the Valorant name if it no longer seems appropriate? We’ll show you how to change your name with just a few clicks! There are basically two ways to do this.

Change valorant name via the Riot account

One of the two possibilities is to log into your own Riot account and change the valorant name there. To do this, you need to do the following:

1. Go to the page https://account.riotgames.com.
2. Log in with your Riot ID.
3. Select the “Riot ID” tab on the left.
4. Click on the pencil icon next to the ingame name displayed there.
5. Enter your desired new valorant name.
6. Click “Submit”.

You can also create a new tagline here. You will need this if you want to invite friends to the game or add them to your contact list in-game. A tagline change is useful if you change your valorant name.

Change name directly in Valorant

In addition, you have the option to change your in-game name directly in the game. This is also done in a few simple steps:

1. Open Valorant by clicking on the game’s desktop icon.
2. Log in with your Riot ID.
3. Select Valorant under “My Games.”
4. Click on the character icon in the upper right corner.
5. Click on “Account Details”.
6. Click on “Riot ID”.
7. Change your name and/or customize your tagline.

What should you keep in mind when changing your name?

You should note when changing your name that this is only possible every 30 days. So by choosing a new name, you are committing yourself for this period of time – and you cannot temporarily undo it. In addition, you should note that the name cannot be changed again immediately after registering with Valorant. In this case, too, you must first wait for a period of time.
