Screenshot at Samsung – this is how it works

Being able to take screenshots is one of the biggest advantages that smartphones bring with them. They can be used to capture and forward funny social media posts as well as important mails, messages or other information. This works with all popular smartphones. But how exactly do you go about taking a screenshot? We show you how a screenshot works on Samsung phones.

Screenshot on current Samsung models

Current models from Samsung like the Galaxy S23 do not have a home button. This has meant that users who have owned Samsung phones before have had to get used to it. Screenshots also have to be made without the help of the home button here. Fortunately, other buttons are available for this – and the procedure is simple. On current Samsung models, you only have to press the Power and the Leister key at the same time.

A screenshot is then taken, which you can recognize by a flashing screen. The captured image will be displayed in the lower right corner of the screen. If you want to edit it, you have to tap on it. Otherwise, you can wipe it off or just wait. It will be saved automatically.

Screenshot on older Samsung models

On older Samsung models, you can take screenshots using the home button. You have to press it simultaneously with the power button to capture the screen content. Again, depending on the model and operating system, a recording may appear in the lower right corner of the screen. If you tap on it, you can edit it. Otherwise, the phone saves them automatically.

Screenshot via swipe gesture

New models also offer the option to take a screenshot using a swipe gesture. This option makes it easier to use with one hand. To take a screenshot on Samsung in this way, you have to place your hand edge with the little finger as the bottom on the screen and swipe to the right or left. The rest of the procedure is not different from that for the already named options.

Recording the screen on Samsung

Screen recordings can be made not only of static content. Filming the screen is also possible. For this, you have to open the pre-installed Screen Recorder app. You can usually find it in the control center of your Samsung device. To get there, swipe down twice with your index finger from the top edge of the screen. When you open the screen recorder, you can start a screen recording. After the countdown displayed in the app expires, the recording will start until you stop it.

In addition, the app offers you a few more options. For example, you can set that the video sound should also be recorded. Furthermore, it is possible to activate the microphone at the same time to be able to comment live on the screen recording.

Summary: Screenshot at Samsung

Taking a screenshot on Samsung devices is not particularly difficult. On older models, you press the home button as well as the power button. On newer models, you have to press the volume down button and the power button at the same time instead. Furthermore, some models allow taking screenshots via swipe gestures. Moving screen content can also be recorded easily thanks to the preloaded screen recorder app.
