Alienware: Area-51m and m17 R3 are upgraded

The gaming experts at Alienware are offering major upgrades to two of their notebooks. The Area-51m and the m17 R3 will receive new displays and new graphics cards. Thus the gaming notebooks offer displays with up to 360 Hz and thanks to the brand new GeForce RTX 3000 full graphic performance.

The innovations

Alienware misses two of its most popular notebooks extensive updates. The first one is the panels of the two gaming bulides. They should not only score with a resolution of 1080p, but also optionally with 360 Hz. Heart of the new notebooks are supposed to be Intel Core i9 processors of the 10th generation. The new ampere-GPUs from Nvidia are supposed to provide strong gaming performance. The latter is probably the biggest surprise. After all, Nvidia has just introduced its new GeForce RTX 3000 chips. Since the focus was anyway straight on the coming RTX 3000er series, Alienware probably used the favour of the hour. The manufacturer made clear that the two coming high performance gaming notebooks will set on the two potent graphic chips.

The m17 R3 is the lighter of the two coming notebooks.

Many things still remain secret

Except in terms of display, processor and graphics chip, Alienware seems to rely on tried and tested. But these are only speculations. After all, apart from these three points, the manufacturer hasn’t let anything be said about innovations. Appropriate to the little information, Alienware also released a few pictures. Here it became clear that nothing will change in the futuristic design typical for Alienware. For further facts we have to be patient until the end of September. Only then Alienware would like to publish further information about the upcoming notebooks.

A lot of performance under the hood

The two most significant changes are probably the graphics chip and the blazing fast display. While the predecessor still offered 300 Hz, the two new displays are supposed to be able to handle a proud 360 Hz. However, this is optional. New processors are also optional. In particular, Intel is putting its Core i9 processors of the 10th generation in the top model aside. Both notebooks are true gaming bulides. Accordingly, they are by no means lightweights. However, if one compares both with each other, the m17 R3 is definitely the more transportable one. If Alienware keeps approximately the weight of its predecessor, it will weigh between 2.5 and 3 kg. The Area-51m should again weigh almost 4 kg. After all, a genuine desktop processor is used here.
