Huawei MateBook 16s marks the manufacturer’s most powerful notebook to date

The new Huawei MateBook 16s, which the manufacturer has just officially announced, is supposed to be slim, light, and powerful. On the plus side, the strongest MateBook so far has 12th-generation Intel Core processors, 16 GB of working memory, and a high-resolution display in 3:2 format.

The Huawei MateBook 16s in detail

Only 17.8 mm is the Huawei MateBook 16s high when closed and comes to a width of 351 mm, and a length of 254.9 mm. The high-quality metal case has a weight of 1,990 grams.

The new notebook was developed for all those who are looking for a powerful device and also want to work on the go without any problems. The manufacturer installs a 16-inch, newly designed FullView display with an extremely slim bezel for maximum screen area. This achieves a screen-to-body ratio of 90 percent.

On top of that, the notebook, like its predecessor MateBook 16, presents itself in a 3:2 aspect ratio, which offers a better viewing experience and increases productivity compared to working with 16:9 ratios. In addition, the Huawei MateBook 16s is equipped with a touchscreen and supports high-precision 10-point multi-touch, which can also be combined with mobile apps and multi-screen collaboration.

The resolution is 2,520 x 1,680 pixels. A contrast ratio of 1,500:1, a maximum brightness of 300 cd/m², and a 100 percent coverage of the sRGB color space including color accuracy of DeltaE <1 are also offered.

Maximum equipped with Core i9

Current Intel Core processors of the 12th generation are used as the CPU. Here you have the choice between an Intel Core i7-12700H and the Core i9-12900H, which are both combined with the integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics unit. In addition, there is 16 GB LPDDR5 RAM, as well as 1 TB NVMe PCIe SSD storage.

The performance is supported by HUAWEI’s Shark Fin Fan system. The cooling system’s sophisticated components, from the air intake to the ultra-thin copper alloy heat sinks, are smoothly matched to deliver quiet, effective and efficient cooling performance.

Smart Office Solutions and Super Device

The Smart Conference solution is also said to transform any environment into a workplace. Using artificial intelligence, the 2MP 1080p camera with 88° wide-angle function and dual microphones provide an immersive conferencing experience even in hectic environments.

The wide-angle camera also makes it possible to maximize eye contact from all angles. Also offered is a FollowCam mode that follows your movements around the room and keeps you in the picture at all times. Sound TrueVoice and innovative noise reduction algorithms reduce background noise during a call.

The Huawei MateBook 16s offers new cross-device collaboration capabilities thanks to Super Device feature. The notebook automatically detects and reports other devices from the manufacturer, such as headphones, mouse, keyboard, speakers or printer in the vicinity. These can then be paired quickly and easily.

For example, the user interface of a connected smartphone can be displayed and operated on the MateBook 16s screen. You can also access files on the smartphone directly via the notebook and even use apps or make calls.

Huawei tablets can thus be used as input devices or a second screen. Individually adjustable is whether the connected devices should display the same content (Mirror Mode), the tablet should be used as a second screen (Extend Mode) or files should be shared quickly between the devices (Collaborate Mode).

Price and Availability

The Huawei MateBook 16s with Intel Core i7 processor is available now in stores, as well as at the Huawei Online Store. The MSRP is 1,699 Euros. The model with Core i9 is supposed to follow in mid-July and will be offered at a price of 1,899 Euros.

Those who decide to buy the device by July 31, 2022, will get the Huawei MateView GT 27 monitor worth 399 Euros for free in a strong bundle offer.
