After the Bip 3 & Bip 3 Pro in June and the T-Rex 2 with large AMOLED display in May, the manufacturer has now unveiled its new line of smartwatches at IFA 2022. A total of three models await you with the Amazfit GTR 4, GTS4 and GTS 4 Mini. The highlights of the new watches are their industry-leading circular polarized GPS antenna technology that enables highly accurate positioning, their advanced sports features, and their large HD AMOLED displays.
Amazfit GTR 4 and GTS 4 in detail
The slogan of the new smartwatch series is “Smart Fitness Made Easy”, showing where the series is headed with the Amazfit GTR 4 and GTS 4. The sports and health sensors have once again been significantly improved compared to their respective predecessors. Thus, the wearables are supposed to help stay healthy and achieve an active lifestyle.
Both the GTR 4 and GTS 4 are the industry’s first smartwatches to feature dual-band circular polarized GPS antenna technology, which provides high signal strength for positioning even in complex environments. The GPS technology also supports five satellite systems and allows you to track your movements in real time.
“In a future firmware update, the technology will support six satellite systems. The watches will also soon support the import of a route file from the Zepp app, which can be navigated in real time directly on the watch,” the manufacturer said.
Even better sports features
Like the T-Rex 2, the new Amazfit GTR 4, GTS4 and GTS 4 Mini smartwatches support over 150 sports modes and advanced fitness features. From the end of September, training data will also be able to be synchronized directly with Strava and adidas Running.
Eight activities will be automatically recognized right away, plus there’s an advanced Track Run mode and a newly added Golf Swing mode. The new watch (which can be increased to 25 with a firmware update) allows the watch to automatically track reps, sets, and rest times, making it ideal for strength training.
The new, proprietary BioTracker 4.0 PPG optical sensor has been upgraded to 2LED, collecting 33 percent more data than the previous generation. At the same time, the heart rate acquisition algorithm is said to have been improved, reducing potential signal interference from arm movement during exercise. As a result, the accuracy of heart rate measurement is said to be almost comparable to that of heart rate belts.
The GTR 4 and GTS 4 smartwatches also offer a variety of additional health features, including improved sleep analysis. So now you can create your own sleep schedule, based on your sleep habits. For example, people with night shifts can also create their own individual sleep schedule and monitor their total sleep, including sleep stages.
Up to 14 days of battery life
The Amazfit GTR 4 smartwatch lasts up to 14 days of normal use. The slim Amazfit GTS 4 also features a powerful battery that is said to last for over a week with normal use.
In addition, there are other smart features. The watches offer an integrated Amazon Alexa voice assistant, as well as music storage and standalone music playback for hands-free use. They also have a built-in speaker and the ability to transmit real-time data such as heart rate, workout duration and distance, or drink reminders via the speaker or Bluetooth headphones in sports mode.
Zepp OS 2.0
The Zepp OS 2.0 operating system is used on all new smartwatches. It is said to work even more smoothly and energy-saving and now offers two different app menu layouts. The expanded range of downloadable mini-apps now includes “Baby Records,” which can be used to record baby’s sleep and feeding times, as well as two brand-new downloadable games and third-party apps GoPro and Home Connect.
Improved design and technology in GTR 4 and GTS 4
The Amazfit GTR 4 relies on a premium design that includes an anti-reflective glass bezel, a metal center frame, and a classic sports car-style crown. The smartwatch also features more than 200 watch faces with matching always-on designs, including over 30 animated and four new interactive watch faces. It is available in three stunning colors, including Superspeed Black, Vintage Brown Leather and Racetrack Grey.
The Amazfit GTS 4 is slim and lightweight (9.9 mm, 27 g) and features an aluminum alloy center frame and a gemstone-look navigation crown. The fashion-conscious device also features an ultra-large 1.75-inch HD AMOLED display with 341 ppi.
The watch’s screen is always visible thanks to the always-on display, and there are more than 150 watch faces to choose from. The smartwatch is available in four latest colors: Infinite Black, Misty White, Autumn Brown and Rosebud Pink.
