AMD Radeon RX 7000 with RDNA-3 architecture introduced

At the launch event of the new AMD Ryzen 7000 CPUs, the manufacturer also briefly presented its new graphics card generation. The AMD Radeon RX 7000 series based on the RDNA-3 architecture is supposed to be launched later this year.

AMD Radeon RX 7000 with performance boost

Around 50 percent more performance per watt compared to the current generation, led by the Radeon 6950 XT, the new AMD Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards are said to deliver. Among other things, this is due to the 5 nm manufacturing process (compared to 7 nm in the predecessor), which is also used in the new CPU generation.

Unfortunately, AMD did not provide us with many technical details, but at least it shows a teaser image of the reference design, which strongly reminds us of the RX 6950 XT presented in May. However, it seems that the new generation is a bit thicker and has an internal illumination for the AMD logo as well as underneath.

Production would be on schedule, as AMD CEO Dr. Lisa Su once again confirmed. The AMD Radeon RX 7000 is currently running in the manufacturer’s labs and the performance looks “absolutely wonderful,” Su said.

On display was a short performance demo of the Soulslike title Lies of P, which was officially unveiled at gamescom 2022 and recorded with several awards, including best action-adventure and best role-playing game. However, the gameplay scenes were not really meaningful.

According to rumors, AMD initially wants to launch the top model of the RX 7000 series this year, while the cheaper variants could still wait until early 2023. However, the manufacturer has not yet mentioned prices and concrete models or technical data.
