ASUS Chromebox 5: Mini PC goes on sale

A compact mini-PC with Google’s ChromeOS and powerful features: That’s what you can expect from the new ASUS Chromebox 5 mini-PC, which is now available in stores.

The ASUS Chromebox 5 in detail

The Red Dot Design Award-winning ASUS Chromebox 5 features a slim chassis that houses an efficient thermal solution for reliability. Under the hood, Intel 12th-generation Core processors are at work. The Core i7-1260P, Core i5-1240P and Core i3-122P are available. Alternatively, there is also a cheaper variant, which is equipped with the Intel Celeron 7305. In addition, there is up to 32 GB DDR4 3200 memory, which can be exchanged via two So-DIMMs.

A PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe SSD in M.2 2280 form factor with 28 GB, 256 GB or 512 GB storage is installed. In terms of ports, a lot is also offered, including:

Thunderbolt 4 brings Thunderbolt connectivity to USB-C with speeds up to 40Gbps, along with DisplayPort 1.4 support. The ASUS Chromebox 5 supports up to four 4K displays.

Another special feature: the top of the mini-PC acts as a 15-watt Qi charger, which can be used to wirelessly charge smartphones and other devices. The fast and secure ChromeOS is used as the operating system: with full support for Android apps from Google Play.

Purposeful

The ASUS Chromebox 5 is particularly compact at 166.5 mm x 165.8 mm x 45.9 mm and weighs just 800 grams. The mini PC can be laid flat, set up or attached to the monitor via VESA mount.

The ASUS Chromebox 5 offers intuitive IT management for businesses and individuals via Google Chrome Enterprise. IT administrators can use the Google Admin Console to manage and monitor the entire inventory of ChromeOS devices from a single dashboard.

This is complemented by numerous enterprise-grade security measures that protect critical business and personal data. These measures include integrated hardware, firmware, software and physical protection. ASUS Chromebox 5 is ENERGY STAR certified and highly energy efficient. The outer casing is also made of recycled PCR plastic.

Price and Availability

The ASUS Chromebox 5 mini PC is available in stores now. Starting at an MSRP of 419.90 euros for the CHROMEBOX5-SC002UN / Intel Celeron 7305 / 4 GB DDR4 / 128 GB M.2 NVM PCIe 3.0 SSD.

The model with Core i3-1220P and 8 GB RAM is priced at 649.90 Euros, the one with Core i5-1240P at 839.90 Euros. The top model relies on the Intel Core i7-1260P, 16 GB RAM, 256 GB SSD storage and Qi charger and has a recommended retail price of 1,019.90 euro.
