ASUS ExpertCenter PN53: Mini PC with smart features and strong performance

The manufacturer has unveiled the ASUS ExpertCenter PN53, an exciting and powerful new mini PC powered by AMD Ryzen-6000 series CPUs and supporting fast DDR5-4800 memory.

The ASUS ExpertCenter PN53 in detail

Convincing performance in an ultra-compact form factor is what the new ASUS ExpertCenter PN53 mini PC aims to deliver. It measures just 120 mm x 130 mm x 58 mm and thus even fits in one hand. The weight is around 900 grams including a 2.5 inch HDD hard drive.

From a technical point of view, the device has a lot to offer and should be suitable for a wide range of applications thanks to intelligent features and strong performance.

Inside, ASUS installs an AMD Ryzen CPU from the 6000 series, optionally the AMD Ryzen 5 6600H, Ryzen 7 6800H or Ryzen 9 6900HX, which are supported by the internal Radeon graphics unit from the 600M series.

Compared to its predecessor, the PN51, the PN53 offers up to 34 percent better single-thread performance and up to 29 percent better multi-thread performance, according to the manufacturer. “In PCMark10 Essentials group tests, the PN53 showed a 10 percent improvement in web browsing, video conferencing and app startup times,” ASUS said.

Excellent features

The rest of the features of the ASUS ExpertCenter PN53 Mini-PC are also more than respectable. Ex works, the manufacturer integrates 8 GB or 16 GB of fast DDR5-4800 RAM, as well as a 256 GB SSD that is connected via PCIe 4.0 x4.

The mini PC also has a 2.5 Gbit/s Ethernet port and communicates wirelessly in the fast Wi-Fi 6E standard. The wireless connection with other devices is done via Bluetooth 5.2.

Two HDMI 2.1 ports are also installed, which can be used to connect up to four 4K displays. There is also a DisplayPort 1.4 port and a USB-C port with a DisplayPort stream. The PN53 can even handle images from an 8K monitor.

The selection of ports is impressive. On the front and side, there is one 3.5 mm jack, one USB 4 Type-C (with DisplayPort and PowerDelivery), three USB 3.2 Gen 1 and two HDMI 2.1 ports. At the back, the PN53 relies on once DisplayPort 1.4, once 2.5 Gbit/s RJ45 LAN, once KensingtonLock and the power connector.

Efficient cooling, smart features

The ASUS ExpertCenter PN53 can also be mounted on a wall or monitor using a VESA mount if desired. Also offered is a self-cleaning anti-dust system that keeps the heatsinks clean and effectively blows dust and other particles out of the system to improve durability.

To ensure sustained high-end performance in a compact device, ASUS designers and engineers have fine-tuned every aspect of the PN53 cooling system. The self-cleaning fan module includes low-profile heatpipes connected to full-sized heatsinks and fan outlets to improve heat dissipation and allow the CPU to operate at optimal temperatures.

The exclusive Smart Fan Control technology also allows the user to adjust the fan modes so that the mini-PC can operate extra quietly, or to get maximum performance even under load. In addition, there is also AI smoke suppression for the input and output signals.

Prices and Availability

The ASUS ExpertCenter PN53 mini PC is available in stores now. It starts at an MSRP of 829.90 euros for the PN53-S5020MD model with Ryzen 5 6600H and 8 GB of RAM.

The variant with Ryzen 7 6800H, 512 GB SSD and 16 GB RAM (PN53-S7021MD) is priced at 999.90 euros, and the top model PN53-S9022MD with a fast AMD Ryzen 9 6900HX, 16 GB RAM and a 512 GB SSD costs 1,199.90 euros. More details can be found on the product website of ASUS.
