be quiet! has given the Pure Base 500, which was introduced last year, an upgrade. With the Pure Base 500DX, the entry-level midi tower now offers improved airflow and, as the first product in the history of be quiet!, now also has ARGB lighting.
In our review of the Pure Base 500 we would have liked to have seen an additional fan to improve the airflow. This could not be said twice by be quiet!, which is why another Pure Wings 2-140 millimetre fan is now installed. So the Pure Base 500DX comes with two front and one rear fan.
But be quiet! goes one step further. The front and lid sections are now equipped with large mesh inserts, allowing even more air to enter the case. In order to prevent dust from entering the case, there is a removable dust filter on the front.
The addressable ARGB lighting, installed for the first time by be quiet!, consists of two LED strips, each with 7 LEDs. The lighting can be controlled either by the mainboard or a switch on the I/O panel. Of course, the lighting options are limited via the switch, but there are six different colors with four different modes as well as three rainbow color modes available.
Also included is a USB 3.1 Gen2 Type C connector on the I/O panel.
The be quiet! pure base 500DX will be available in black and white from April 28. In terms of price, the RRP is 99 Euros, 20 Euros more than the Pure Base 500.
