Belkin Soundform: Affordable alternative to AirPods

Belkin is now also launching its own True Wireless In-Ears. With the Soundform TWS, the manufacturer wants to score with a great price-performance ratio.

Hardly contested market

When Apple introduced the first generation of AirPods in September 2016, they smiled wearily. Wireless in-ear headphones were not predicted to have a future. Almost four years later, we’re smarter. It turned out that the market of true wireless in-ears is a highly competitive one. Meanwhile almost every manufacturer wants to get involved. Now Belkin is also launching its first true wireless in-ears. The manufacturer has always stood for affordable products with a convincing quality. At least the price can be seen in the Belkin Soundform. At just under 70 euros, they are still far cheaper than the alternative from market pioneer Apple.

Old familiar from a new manufacturer

If you take a close look at the sound form, you won’t notice anything revolutionary at first. The in-ears rather offer all the features we are used to from True Wireless In-Ears by now. One of the most popular is probably the comfortable touch control. You have to tap the outside of the earphones for this. Furthermore, the Belkin Soundform are IPX5 certified. This means they offer protection against splash water or sweat. Therefore they are also suitable for athletes. To pair the headphones with the device of your choice, all you have to do is press a button. This also sounds pleasantly uncomplicated.

Good sound and optimal fit

Of course, sound quality is always a subjective matter. So here, too, it means that you should first try out the sound yourself. Belkin himself speaks of a powerful sound in his sound form. This offers above all a deep bass. But beyond that, the Soundform should always fit perfectly in the ear thanks to the three differently sized earplugs included in the scope of delivery. Unfortunately, the Soundform doesn’t have any active noise suppression. You can’t expect this feature in this price range, though. Belkin promises, however, that the custom fit in the ear should be able to provide convincing passive attenuation of disturbing outside noise.

You can choose between black and white.

Average battery life

After five hours of music enjoyment, the soundform should be over. With the help of the practical transport and charging case, the headphones can be fully charged four more times. Thus, the Soundform offers a solid endurance. It’s sad that the Soundform will still come onto the market with a micro USB port in mid 2020. But what’s frightening is that a micro USB with the ridiculous length of 15 cm is included in the scope of delivery. Here, a USB-C port would have simply been more groundbreaking. The headphones do not support wireless charging either.

Price and availability

In the meantime, the Belkin Soundform True Wireless TWS are available in stores. Here you can choose between the colors black and white. If you are interested, you can order the headphones at a RRP of 69.99 Euro in the onlineshop of Belkin. The first orders should then be delivered in mid-August.
