BYD Atto 3, Tang and HAN: Manufacturer presents e-car lineup for Europe

With the chic sedan Seal, the Chinese carmaker BYD presented an appealing Tesla 3 competitor just a few days ago, which will also appear in Germany in 2023. Now they let its entire lineup follow, which consists of two e-SUVs called BYD Atto3 and BYD Tang, as well as the premium sedan BYD Han. All three models are scheduled to launch in Europe this fall and will be delivered before the end of 2022.

Atto 3, Tang and HAN: BYD launches in Europe and has big plans

The Chinese manufacturer is attacking Europe with no less than three high-end e-cars, which are scheduled to appear in the fall of 2022 and thus represent the brand’s European launch ahead of the BYD Seal announced for 2023. All three models will be on display at the Paris Motor Show, which will be held in the French capital from October 17-23, 2022.

“The first BYD passenger cars will be delivered to end customers before the end of the fourth quarter of 2022,” the manufacturer promises in the announcement.

BYD Atto 3: Compact E-SUV

The first of the bunch is the BYD Atto 3, a compact e-SUV designed to rival the Hyundai Ioniq 5 or the recently unveiled XPeng G9. It relies on the manufacturer’s advanced e-Platform 3.0 and aims to combine an appealing design with smart features and efficiency.

It comes in at 4.455 meters long and 1.875 meters wide. Unlike the manufacturer’s other models, the Atto 3 relies on a FWD (front-wheel drive) system, allowing it to reach a maximum of 160 km/h. A 150 kW electric motor catapults the e-SUV from a standstill to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds.

A 60.48 kWh battery is installed, which should enable a range of up to 420 kilometers (according to WLTP). On the power grid, the BYD Atto 3 is also charged from 30 to 80 percent in 29 minutes.

BYD Tang: Electric SUV with all-wheel drive

With a length of 4.87 meters and a height of 1.725 m, the BYD Tang turns out to be significantly larger, which is also at home in the E-SUV segment. With a total of seven seats, the Tang is also much roomier inside and is said to offer a “premium experience”.

It is equipped with variable all-wheel drive and was first released as early as November 2021 on the pilot market in Norway, where it is enjoying great popularity. In the process, the all-electric SUV scores with a high level of comfort, plenty of space, efficiency and safety.

The 380 kW electric motor accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, although the BYD Tang is limited to 180 km/h. 22-inch wheels transfer power to the road, while the extra-safe LFP battery called the BYD Blade Battery has a capacity of 86.4 kWh and provides a range of 400 km according to WLTP.

The trunk is limited to 235 liters, thanks to the seven seats. Fold down the rear size, however, and you have 940 liters or a maximum of even a whopping 1,665 liters of trunk space. Further details on the BYD Tang are also provided by the manufacturer’s official website.

BYD Han: Classy premium sedan

The manufacturer’s third e-car goes by the name BYD Han and presents itself as a spacious and chic premium sedan which, of course, is also powered by an electric motor.

Its design and dimensions are very similar to the Tesla Model S, which is also the Han’s direct competitor. The sedan, which is around five meters long and just under two meters wide, also has an all-wheel drive system with 380 kW and a top speed of 180 km/h.

Thanks to the, compared to the Tang, lower weight, the high-end e-sedan accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. Here, the battery holds 85.4 kWh, which should provide a range of 512 km.

A panoramic glass roof, by the way, is offered by all three BYD models. “The BYD Han offers a high-tech, premium experience that benefits from some of the most advanced technologies in the electric car industry, including the revolutionary Blade Battery,” the manufacturer said.
