Just in time for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2019 an update of the Schenker Slim 15 Ultrabook (Version E19) was presented. The 15.6-inch notebook features a new case, most of which is made of aluminum, updated processors from Intel’s eighth-generation core, and a Thunderbolt 3 connector that charges the device.
The configuration can be chosen between the Intel Core i5-8265U (4 cores, 1.60 GHz clock, 3.90 GHz turbo) and the Core i7-8565U (4 cores, 1.80 GHz clock, 4.60 GHz turbo). In comparison to the previous generation, the single-core performance should be about 10 percent higher with the same TDP of 15 watts. Between 8 and 64 GB of RAM are available. HDDs are not offered, the available M.2 SSDs are connected via PCIe. The 15.6 inch screen is only available with Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels).
In addition to the new processors, the housing has also been significantly improved. Thanks to the generous use of aluminum on the display lid and in the keyboard border and wrist-rest, the Ultrabook should be much more stable. The thermal properties are also better than those of the previous generation due to the good thermal conductivity. The Ultrabook is available in red and silver with the so-called sandblast look.
The Thunderbolt 3 interface now used instead of USB-C-3.1 is used to charge the Ultrabook. In addition, an external graphics card or an additional battery as well as external monitors can be connected via the interface. Despite the compact housing, there are three additional USB ports, a DisplayPort and an HDMI port, a jack plug, a GBit LAN port and a card reader.
The Schenker Slim 15 is now available. The basic version for 949.00 Euros offers an Intel Core i5-8265U, 8 GB RAM and a 250 GB Samsung Evo SSD. The voluntary manufacturer’s warranty is 36 months.
