Cooler Master reissues Hyper 212 Evo

Hardware expert Cooler Master has revised the specs of the popular Hyper 212 Evo in the second version. And the changes are really something special. The fan, mounting, height and performance of the mid-range cooler have been changed.

Advantages of an asymmetrical cooler

With the Hyper 212 Evo v2, Cooler Master introduces an asymmetrical cooler to the market. The practical thing about this special shape is that you can mount the cooler in a certain position. This is not necessarily to keep a PCIe slot free. Instead, asymmetrical coolers should be mounted in a position where the cooler can be slightly offset from the I/O shield. This will benefit the entire system, especially in terms of memory compatibility. Finally, modules with high heat sinks can be installed in the first RAM slot. Furthermore, the cooler does not need as much space as it used to. Now the Evo v2 only needs 155 mm space. This makes it possible to mount the cooler in very narrow cases.

Modern fan

When it comes to fans, Cooler Master has opted for a current model from the SickleFlow portfolio for its new edition. This model should be able to cope with speeds between 600 and 1,800 revolutions per minute. The new version thus achieves a higher maximum speed than its predecessor. Although the air throughput is not increased, the static pressure increases. This is due not only to the higher speed, but also to the blade geometry. Not only the speed of the fan is higher. The general cooling capacity is also supposed to be stronger, if one is to believe the Cooler Master’s specifications. For an example processor like the Ryzen R9 3950X, the cooling capacity should increase by ten percent.

Other assembly

With the second version of its Hyper 212 Evo, Cooler Master no longer relies on its predecessor’s scissor mount. Instead, the manufacturer has completely rethought its mounting. The new Hyper 212 Evo v2 should be able to be mounted on nearly all conceivable sockets from Intel and AMD. Cooler Master is relying on a new mounting system. Instead of the scissors mount of the predecessor, a separate mount is now used, in which the cooler is inserted by means of two screws.

Price and availability

The Hyper 212 Evo v2 from Cooler Master is expected to be launched at an RRP of almost 35 euros.
