Corsair EX100U: External USB Type-C SSD with strong gaming performance

With the Corsair EX100U, the manufacturer has introduced a robust and compact external SSD that connects via USB Type-C and enables high speeds. Up to 4 TB of storage space is available for the drive.

The Corsair EX100U in detail

The new Corsair EX100U external SSD aims to deliver impressive gaming performance on the go. Among other things, this is made possible by a USB Type-C Gen 2×2 port for high bandwidths of up to 20 Gbps.

With a sequential read speed of up to 1,600 MB/s and a sequential write speed of up to 1,500 MB/s, the SSD wants to be well prepared for complex video productions, image editing and current games.

Very good values, but not as good as the competitor in the form of the Kingston XS2000 Portable (our review). It is connected in the same way, but realizes up to 2,000 MB/s read and write.

Offered in various capacities ranging from 500 GB to a maximum of four terabytes of storage, at least according to the press release, the EX100U will be available for purchase. The official homepage, however, only lists variants with 1 TB, 2 TB and 4 TB of storage. It is possible that the smallest model will be added at a later date.

The external SSD is particularly compact and robust at the same time, so that it can be used on PCs, Macs or game consoles without any problems. With a size of only 79 mm x 37 mm x 11 mm, the storage fits comfortably in any pocket and is as small as a credit card.

Broad compatibility

In addition to a fast USB Type-C to Type-C cable, however, the Corsair EX100U also comes with a Type-C to Type-A cable, ensuring broad compatibility with all devices and allowing for easy plug-and-play setup.

The USB Type-C port also features a protective cover, thanks to which you can keep dust and dirt out, extending the life of the external storage.

Prices and Availability

The Corsair EX100U USB Type-C external SSD is available now directly from the manufacturer and from all authorized distributors and resellers worldwide. On offer is a three-year limited warranty. It starts at an MSRP of 139.99 Euros for the variant with 1 TB of storage space. The 2 TB model is priced at 249.99 euros, while four terabytes of storage come with a recommended retail price of 619.99 euros.
