The Crucial MX500 series is one of the most popular SATA SSDs on the market. Now, the manufacturer expands the model series with a new variant and henceforth also offers the SSD with 4 TB of memory.
Double memory
The previous top model of the Crucial MX500 offered a capacity of 2 terabytes, now the manufacturer doubles the memory and also offers the SATA SSD with 4 TB of storage. The parent company Micron once again contributes the SM2258 controller and 3D TLC NAND.
In terms of performance, the specifications remain the same. The new MX500 once again achieves up to 560 MB/s for reading and a maximum of 510 MB/s for writing. However, the sequential read IOPS (90K instead of 95K) are a bit lower than in the largest variant so far. In return, the maximum lifetime (Total Bytes Written) increases to 1,000 TBW. Apart from that, nothing changes in the Crucial MX500 2.5-inch SATA SSD with 4 TB capacity for now.
Price and Availability
The Crucial MX500 4 TB is available in stores immediately. In the manufacturer’s store, the SATA SSD is offered for a price of 361.75 Euros, while mail-order giant Amazon lists the hard drive for 363.99 Euros.
