DaVinci Resolve 19: New version of video editing and color grading software launched

Version 18 has now been available for around two years, and Blackmagic Design has now introduced DaVinci Resolve 19, a new version of the popular video editing and color grading program, which is now available for download as a free public beta on Mac, Windows and Linux.

DaVinci Resolve 19 is intended to replace its direct predecessor as a powerful tool, which is currently available in version 18.6.6. The new version is already available as a public beta and can be downloaded free of charge as a basic version after registration.

The major update will add AI tools and over 100 function upgrades to the software. These include IntelliTrack AI, Ultra NR noise reduction, ColorSlice six-vector grading, a film look creator FX, multi-source editing, new MultiPoly rotoscoping tools, the new Fairlight AI audio-to-video panning, Ducker Track FX and Ambisonic surround sound and much more.

DaVinci Resolve 19 therefore offers all kinds of innovations in all areas. For example, it is now possible to work directly with transcribed audio, while the new ColorSlice six-vector palette can even create film-like color tones.

The IntelliTrack AI feature in Fairlight can track motion and perform automatic audio panning. The editing module now has new broadcast replay tools for live editing of multicam content, as well as the ability for playouts and replays with speed control. While the new Organizations app in Blackmagic Cloud cde facilitates collaboration with larger groups and teams.

When transcribing audio content, there is now also a new analysis function that can recognize multiple voices and assign names to the speakers. The text-based search and text replacement functions have also been refined.

Extensive AI tools

DaVinci Resolve 19 has made particularly big gains in the area of AI tools. In addition to intelligent tracking using IntelliTrackAI, there is also a music remixer, masking of people and SuperScaling technology, which can upscale older content in HD to 4K or 8K.

It is also possible to cut videos in 16:9 HD or UHD and convert them quickly and easily into square or portrait format for social media posts. The DaVinci Neural Engine automatically recognizes faces and automatically aligns them in the new frame.

The Open FX library offers over a dozen stylized effects and can artificially modify image content. It is also possible to refine faces, reduce dead pixels or remove objects in videos.
