With the Decathlon Magic Bike, the French manufacturer presents an exciting concept study that demonstrates its own vision of an urban e-bike. User-friendliness, rider safety and adaptability are the focus and are intended to be tailored primarily to the needs of commuter traffic.
Decathlon Magic Bike in detail: concept study B’TWIN Concept_01
With the urban e-bike Decathlon Magic Bike, the manufacturer is targeting all commuters. According to the website, the concept is characterized above all by its simplicity. It is unlocked by key or smartphone when it approaches and recognizes you and is then ready to go.
The concept e-bike does not offer a gearshift. Instead, it relies on an automatic transmission that accelerates the e-bike motor up to 25 km/h using pedal assistance. The motor automatically adjusts the pedaling frequency to the prevailing conditions. Power is transmitted to the rear axle via a fully protected, low-maintenance belt.
The built-in rechargeable battery has a modular design. A total of three battery packs with a range of 30 kilometers each can be combined, making a total of up to 90 km possible. That would be minimally less than the recently introduced City e-bike Tenways CGO800S.
The battery packs are installed in the down tube and can be easily removed with the help of a carrying handle. Conveniently, the required cables for charging also find a place directly in the down tube, so that the e-bike can be conveniently charged on the go.
Safety in commuter traffic
The manufacturer has also thought about the safety of the Decathlon Magic Bike. Thus one installs an unspecified complete lighting system, which is to adapt to the urban conditions and ensures that one is always well seen by day and night.
In the handlebars, as well as in the grips, there are also LED turn signals to indicate the turning process. The mono-brake, which distributes 40 percent of the braking force to the rear wheel and 60 percent to the front wheel, is also located on the right handlebar, allowing for quick and safe stops.
The luggage carrier system is also modular, with a storage area that can be attached either in front of the handlebars or behind the saddle. Optional, of course, front and rear and equipped with additional accessories.

All in all, an exciting concept, which of course is not yet available for purchase. At least the Decathlon Magic Bike shows up on the official website but in some pictures and short videos explaining the features. So it remains to be seen whether the urban e-bike will ever be mass-produced.
